what if fear of burning to hell or being accountable for "sins" as defined in religion or incentive of heaven is removed from religion?...would religion still work?
Sure it will "work" for those who only care about the here and now.
But not for those who care about living eternally.
No. An essential part to a healthy functioning religion is the pinnacle doctrine that you are accountable for your actions and thoughts. It's also essential teaching that man's potential is without limit. All of the above would be mute without the other half of the journey.
It's best to believe and strive for personal progress. If you die and nothing happens, well, then nothing lost by your faithful actions in life. BUT, if you die and something does happen.....
Of course not! Religion is about enslaving people using fear. Using punishment or reward.
Do you what to mean that religion is only relevant to the life here after? No! We live religion by the day.In most cases religion is our conscience, differentiating, right from wrong. We don't have to be promised a reward for doing right. If in killing you would feel gratification then you would need some psychotherapy to regain your sanity not religion.
i am not saying about life here after or anything..i am mere asking that would religion work if it teaches only morality and takes away heaven ,hell and being watched concepts...

I know this is going to be a big no, but honestly, I would be motivated to write more hubs and clean up old ones if I got paid 80% instead of 60%. Even 70% would motivate me more. Anyone else feel the same?

Doubt I'm going to get honest answers from believers, but......a christian wrote on my ex-christian hub:“I believe this life is the only one I've got,” but just what if you are wrong? What if there is something after this? Wouldn’t it be better to believe and it turns out not to be true, than to...

What happens to a person who never heard of Jesus? Can a person get into heaven if they have never heard of Jesus or has never been witnessed to?

Why do believers still think the fear of hell is compelling for non believers?I stumbled across several new hubs recently talking about how if you don't follow Jesus, you're going to hell to be consumed by both fire and insects forever. Non believers recognize this for what it is...
