      There is a book that has inspired me so much so, that I've decided to purchase copies of it and give them out for Christmas gifts this year.  It's a book called "The Shack".  This book has helped me to see God in a whole new light, and after reading it;I love God all the more.

      When I was a kid I was inspired by the writings of Stan Lee. Back then I suppose it was a toss up between issues of Daredevil and Spider-man.
      
      In my late teens to mid-twenties I loved the writing of Diane Carey and still do. She could put Star Trek down on paper like nobody's business and if she were to put out a new Star trek novel...
      
      In my mid to late twenties it was H. P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard.
      
      In my thirties it was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie.
      
      In my forties definitely Ray Bradbury and Franz Kafka (though the only thing these guys ever had in common was probably me as a reader). 
      
      In my present decade it would have to be Terry Pratchett, Harry Turtledove, Barbara Custer, Lyn McConchie, and Jim Butcher, the author of the Dresden Files.

      The book that inspired me the most overall was probably The Truth by Terry Pratchett. It pokes fun at the publishing trade but in a very loving sort of way.

      This is a specific book question? Cause I don't remember which one it was specifically, but it was by Ray Bradbury... Twice 22? The Martian Chronicles? The Toynbee Convector? S is for Space?
      
      Whichever, alla his stories are primo pieces of literature, with rich characters, fascinating plots, and endings that make you shiver all over when they draw to a close. Great stuff, really, and it ain't all science fiction like most figure, either. The dude is just an excellent writer, man, and leaves my brain to churning in my headbone with all kindsa groovy ideas...

         Donald Trump books are great for motivation and inspiration. Donald Trump only sleeps 4hours a night to be as successful as he is. So that made me realize that if i'm not successful, i'm not trying hard enough or putting enough time and energy into something, and theres no exscuse for it. If you want something that bad, do what it takes to get it.

   I was in fourth grade when I got, "The Miracle Worker", from the scholastic book club.  It had the braille alphabet in the back of the book, which meant, to me, that was a little something extra.  I was very impressed and inspired by Anne Sullivan, because the book emphasized her strong nature and the fact that she wasn't willing to just let Helen Keller be "written off" as "unteachable".  It just made me think, "Now THAT'S how to deal with challenges - no matter how big anyone else thinks they may be."   Maybe to a young kid the horror of imagining living life the way Helen had (before learning to communicate) made Anne Sullivan's role in her life have even more impact on me.  There's never been another book that so inspired me.

    The useful things I find in books are like drops of water on a plant, I take something from each of them that I think might help me grow. It's hard to choose just one for that reason. A few come to mind immediately, though. Anna Karenina, because Tolstoy showed me how the romantic ideal might not be the ideal at all--that perhaps the simple life, exemplified by the character Levin, might be the whole point of life. The same point was made by Somerset Maugham in "Of Human Bondage". And then, Dostoevsky. In "The Brothers Karamazov", because he explores the idea of free will and the conflict between faith and doubt.

    A New Earth - Ekhart Tolle - definitely worth a read.
    I also loved A Fine Balance by Rohington Mistry
    oh I could go on and on if I really start thinking of inspirational books.

    "Marley & Me" showed me how it is possible to write about something that you love in life and make it entertaining at the same time. It inspired me to write about a holiday I spent with my family last year that was really special to me. If the author of Marley & Me can take something simple and make it into a novel, why can't I!

    Both are stories of servant leadership and motivation by example. They were clear markers for my life path.

    This would be a hard question for me to answer, especially because I have only recently began reading. If I was to pick one author/book over all of them it would be Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis or The Stoker maybe even The Penal Colony, actually since they are all under 100 pages I'll say all of them. However other books that inspired me are Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, The Night of the Iguana, wait do plays count?
