Is Sarah Palin about running for the Senate in 2012?

President Obama made a serious mistake when he made the off-hand remark about the Special Olympics, BUT WHO IS SARAH PALIN TO CRITICIZE HIM? It's not like Palin is a very proper person with high ethical standards. Just look at her daughter Bristol. She clearly did not love Levi Johnston, BUT SHE HAD SEX WITH HIM TO PRODUCE AN OFFSPRING AND NOW THEIR RELATIONSHIP HAS ENDED

Governor Palin is not her daughter.  Governor Palin didn't make that mistake.

Governor Palin has become a major spokesperson for people with disabilities, specifically Downs' Syndrome babies and children. A lot of her supporters during the campaign really related to her wanting to make special needs a major issue in her and John McCain's White House.

President Obama's use of the term "Special Olympics" to describe his bowling prowess was perhaps callous or politically incorrect. The fact is, however, that the term "Special Olympics" is the absolute best, most accurate description he could have found. It universally describes what he was trying to convey -- bowling for him is a feat that goes beyond his natural talents. But he tries hard at it. Needless to say, the so-called "liberal" media are always on the lookout for any kind of slip-up.

As for Sarah Palin running for the Senate. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. She's got a taste of the bigtime and you know she's got ambition. Hopefully she'll bone up on her political knowledge before running.

I hope he meant that.  How do you know he wasnt making fun of people with disabilities?

I can honestly say that Obama is not that stupid. Love him or hate him, he is intelligent enough to know better than to make fun of the disabled, publicly at least..

When you are brilliant (so I've heard) you really have no need or desire to make fun of people with any kind of disability.  Quite the opposite, usually, if that brilliance is matched with decency.  He was making fun of himself.  He also realized how his comment would look in the press and immediately (w/o a PR conference) called Shriver (head of the Special Olympics, and related to the Kennedys--a democrat) to apologize for the gaffe.

Lita, did you know that these states that are denying to use surplus money are denying funds that were solely geared, by Pres.Obama, to fund special needs programs for America's lacking public education system?  Why can't a remark, be just that a remark?  You know? People will do or say just about anything against this Pres.  I don't get it.  Do you?

RK - Could I get the link where it says this?  I haven't heard anything about this.  I have a disabled sister and would like to read about it.

          Thanks

Yeah sure.  I heard about it last night on Bill Maher's show.  He had on a Senator from Vermont, who is an Independent and he made the comment and addressed the issue.  I'll see what I can find.

No, I didn't know that & its crazy.  I sometimes wonder if some people aren't just on a different planet.

It amounts to meanness & I do think that's why some are finding it hard to be 'nice' to the other side.

Legitimate question?  Because it absolutely could have been misconstrued as it may be misconstrued here.

Same case during the campaign with the media and the Republican side.  The media would take something that McCain or Palin said and flip-flop it, twist and turn it to make it sound un-American or something.

Umm, can't agree with you there, John.  At the time, I was something of a member of the press...

But agree misrepresentation in the news is rampant.

Lots and lots.  CNN is crazy bad about spin from all sides presented as news.

(I'm not gonna say how I think the McCain-Palin campaign was covered, lol, cuz we'd absolutely disagree--but I know the traditional media was slow on the uptake through all of it.)
