Pouncey Likely Out For Super Bowl

   Although there has not been official word from the team yet, several Steelers players have told the media that their Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey will not be able to play in the Super Bowl. He suffered a ankle injury in the AFC championship game against the Jets.
   
   I've said it before and I'll say it again, the center is one of the most important players on the offense, right up there with the quarterback and top running back. Losing a Pro Bowl center for the big game is devastating.
   
   I'm ready to make my pick now: Green Bay by 4 points.

   I believe Pouncey has a "high ankle-spain," and as a huge basketball fan I know that those are dreaded injuries that usually keep players out for 3-5 weeks in basketball. Thhat probably translates to about 2-3 weeks in football because football players play through ailments more since each game is more important than in an 82 game basketball season. With that said, I know this is the Super Bowl, so he'll play if he can, but it really just makes more sense to give the back-up all the reps over the next two weeks and get him in-sync with Roethlisberger so they do not have any trouble in their exchanges. Sure, Roethlisberger may feel a little more pressure/ pass rush with the back up Center in there but that is when he is actually at his best.

   Not a rapiestburger fan but he is very good at shedding tacklers so changing centers wont hurt him that much. Lagursky and pouncey are close they both miss blocks and I have noticed the have problems with a good nose tackle! I think bj ragji will have a good superbowl. Ok back to pouncey we cant say how his ankle feels only he can judge that! With that bein said, he should suck it up for the superbowl!

   That is going to hurt them. They thrive on running between the tackles, hard nosed ball. Green Bay has a great defensive line, big ol Raji. I really think this could be a concern. There could be some fumbles under center between the two of them now. In the Superbowl, you don't want a turnover.

   I think Green Bay woulda won regardless, but one of the main reasons for that is the Packers pass rush and the Steelers inability to protect Roethlisberger. This just intensifies that factor.
   
   The Jets were in the Steelers backfield all day long last week, but they didn't decide to start tackling until after halftime. When they finally did, they stopped the Pitt offense and almost pulled off the comeback. Green Bay won't make that same mistake.

   Now that he is out for sure, this could be a concern for the Steelers. I look for the Packers to mix up their blitz schemes and try to pressure from the inside. This is a must for Green Bay. If you colapse the pocket from the inside, Big Ben cannot escape through the middle. This could change the whole complex of the game.
