   This Whole I'm Smarter - More Important - More 'Enlightened' - Far Better and More Arrogant Separatism... Is Tres BS on a site of the quality of HP!
   Consider... That this site has now grown into a truly international site.  That means that people from many cultures enjoy supporting the site!  It is NOT the merits of Religious Belief or Non Belief that attracts Genuine People to this site as Writers!
   I am sure that 95% of the Intelligent People here are repulsed by the pointless squabbles and immature abuse based on personal religious interpretations, either way!
   
   Why Are You Here if Not to be a Writer?
   
   If you have a need to vent your personal point of view on religious issues - Write hubs.. And Jam your opinion down your readers' throats, let your personal readers vote and comment on the merits of your opinions and watch your traffic grow!
   
   If it doesn't grow... then you will understand what I'm saying here... that the world thinks your work is BS! - Consider That!

   Amen! I recently got into the forums here on HP (first post today) and fell prey to one of these lengthy debates on the subject against my better judgment, wasn't all bad though there were a handful of posts that were interesting. There's never really a right answer and most people have a cognitive dissonance/mental blinders regardless of which side they are on there seems to be a complete lack of objectivity. As a philosophy major in college with an interest in religion I enjoyed talking with friends about this kind of stuff so I hope there is much more to this forum than that. I end up hating most of my hubs and delete them after a month or so but I love reading other peoples work and am excited to check these forums out more.
   
   Here's to not arguing with people who do not want to expand/grow their thinking but merely convince others to their point of view at all costs. Regardless of what the subject is, I am going to try and avoid that from now on. Seeing this topic has renewed my faith in the HP community forums!

   I don't mind an academic discussion on it.
   I just get upset when people call me names because I believe in a religion and they think its bad and stuff. I accept them for who they are, why is it so hard for them to accept me and others who believe like I do?

    In deed. These pointless arguments take away the substance of the topic and degeneragte into plain "God, or no God" debates. If you do not believe in God, so be it. Do not introduce this into any topic that  anything to do with God and veer away from what is being discussed. Please.
    
    Say I want to talk about whether Jesus meant for Peter to be his "heir" and in come the Godless brigade to come up with NO God argument. Can you honestly say if it has anything to do with what I want to talk about?
