Since we talk a lot about politics in these forums, I'm curious about what everyone feels most strongly about. Is it gay rights? Abortion? The economy? Employment rights? What's your most important issue?

      in order

      economy - unemployment
      education
social issues - gay rights, abortion - reproductive health, strengthening of the family
      environment
      internal security
      international relations

I included social issues, they can also become political, plus they are interrelated

Political reform in the US Government.  This includes campaign finance reform, term limits and line item veto.

Without control of the government the bidding goes to the highest bidder who then decides where we are headed.

This directly relates to foreign relations, the wars, trade deficeits, taxes and social reform.

I want to see what happens in Libya in coming days because what U.S. and France are doing in Libya is completely  injustice.  They're just doing this because they want to quench their thirst for oil.

Tax credits for corporations who bring back jobs to American shores. And hire Americans. Incentives are a must.

The "trickle down" way of thinking doesn't actually work, just so you know. Before jobs can be created for Americans, there needs to be market demand. There is none because the working and middle classes are bearing the brunt of the tax credits being gifted to rich corporations, so nobody has any money to spend, so there is no market demand.

Nonsense! Who do you think pays corporate taxes? Consumers do! Cut taxes cut government and businesses will gave money to invest and to hire and people will have money to spend save and invest! We have seen what government spending does... after dumping trillions into the economy... nothing!

To give a UK example: this year £7million has been cut in housing and welfare benefits. People have been forced out of their homes and on to the street.

Vodafone, meanwhile, owes £6million in taxes. Have they paid it? No. The government has written the debt off.  All those people now huddling in shelters could have kept their homes and their jobs if one single greedy corporation had paid the taxes it legally owes. And this is not the only example, there are dozens more in both the UK and the US. In fact, there's a very interesting article on it here:

              http://www.thenation.com/article/158282 … -tea-party

              I recommend reading it. It's eye-opening.

              @lady_love158

Cut taxes and corporate pockets more money is the only proof of your theory.  It never will work in a free society where the dollar is the proof of the action.  Corporate needs to show profit to their stock holders and the easiest and quickest way has always been to reduce your expenses and increase production.  Where do you think the reduction comes from? Lessening your biggest costs, taxes and wages! Where do you think increasind production comes from? Making the employees work longer for the same or lesser wages.

healthcare is doing just fine... but how do we move forward without more cowbell?

a civilized nation must allocate atleast 3% of annual GDP to cowbell production, nevermind the additional costs of cowbell maintenace (which ofcourse is a Provincial responsibility)

It is not up to central Canada to send you the funds to enable you to bang anything.

          That is a personal issue

Good question! Something you don't hear much about anymore, campaign reform and term limits. I believe that our current system perpetuates career politicians. There's nothing worse for our country than career politicians. Get rid of them, and most of the other problems will be easily solved.
