Ok .. I haven't been here long but 2 things have happened since my first hub.
1) I've re-discovered my love of writing
2) The pandalisation by google
I've decided to try to earn some money at this game and with the Panda hit that is going to be difficult here.
Don't worry though, I like hubpages and will stick around to see how it all goes but as others have suggested, it's probably not good to put all my eggs in one basket so here's my plan .. feel free to make suggestions etc.
1) Setting up personal website as a copywriter hopefully attract some work (maybe starting with current web clients)
2) Have started setting up a monetised Wordpress site with articles that I find interesting (some will be moved from here)
3) As HP is struggling for SE at the moment, any hubs that are short term (eg Royal Wedding Hubs) will be posted at Excerptz who don't seem to have been hit though long term it could happen
4) Other articles aimed at getting good adsense returns and aren't short term will be posted here .. ie hubs I may not find interesting to write but may work eg 'dental implants'
Does that seem a reasonable strategy ? any thoughts ?
I can't comment on your particular strategy as I simply don't know enough about your sites, but diversification and being the master of your own domain are two things that are essential right now.
I'm a bit brain dead at the moment, between dealing with my Wordpress sites when I don't yet know what I am doing, and others things going on at home. Going stir-crazy - need to get out but can't yet walk far enough with my back being bad.
It sounds to me like you have a very good strategy going.
I have no doubt our hubs will creep back up in the rankings but no idea the timescale. Could be a long time away.
Meanwhile starting off niche sites seems like a good idea. Easier for those of us who have done this sort of thing before, of course...which isn't me lol
Excerptz is not the only site of its type out there. Thisisoli also has an excellent site where I'm sure well-written articles will be welcomed.
If you have a url of your own that can encompass all sorts of different writing topics, I'd stick to that.
As for writing hubs for the long term, that is an excellent idea also. HP will be back!
I love what I have been able to learn here, but I also need to make in income and that is why I am diversifying.
LOL, good play on words! First time I've seen a suicide bomber cat!

It would be interesting to be able to see the Hub Hop ratings on my hubs - this will help me understand what areas I need to work on and which areas I am doing well on....

I just started writing here a couple of days ago and I really like it so far but I wanna network and connect with more people. How do some people have over 1000 followers, is it because they have been here for awhile or do they just write awesome articles? Also if you could drop any hints on how to...

It looks like a fourth of my feed lately is comprised of new people wanting the rest of us to tell them how to write. All day I get request after request for help on passing the Quality Assessment. I mean Really? Many of your requests are just one step above being a jumble of mis-spelled words...
