      As politely as possible, tell the pastor that you won't be coming back and quietly shut the door behind you?
      
      I'm sure I don't understand the problem.  Are there legal obligations? Ethical ramifications with promises given?

      My advice would be to leave revrently, and politely tell the priest that you will see him next week. That's how I usually exit the building.

      Prevention is better than cure.But in answer to your question,you first change principals.That in itself will lead you away from Catholic Idolatry and none Christian environment.

         It is cunning Paul, sinful scribes and the misled Church who introduced idolatry in the Catholics. Jesus did not believe in Trinity.

            It is sinful Mohommed who lied about seeing an angel, and preached a false gospel to the people. One completely contradictory to the atoning sacrifice of Christ.

   I made an ethical commitment.  I adored my sponsor and was very happy.  Long story short, my sponsor did not like my choice for a husband.  I then chose to be married outside of the Catholic Church.  She has not spoken to me since.
   
   My husband and I will be joining the church where we were married 6 months ago.
   
   It is all very sad to me.
   
   I had joined the church at a time when changes were being made and then I saw a regression.  Then I encountered less than adequate priests, attended a congregation that barely said hello to me.
   
   So I wandered from church to church until my husband found a great church last Easter, then we were married in August and tomorrow we will join that church but I must "resign" or something from the Catholic Church.
   
   I have typed a nice note not letter simply stating I am leaving - no explanation.  I have been with this church or parish for 3 years and no one has been friendly yet I receive the correspondence requesting donations.
   
   I will not apologize - great advice duchman1951 and I will shut the door quietly as you suggested wilderness.
   
   I appreciate the help and I I need the support - this makes me sad and yet I wish to be respectful to the church and to myself.

      Sponsors are supposed to support the people they sponsor, not make decisions for them or not abandon them for their own decisions.
      
      No, don't go quietly, give your sponsor a piece of your mind and let her know just how disappointed you are in her lack of support.

      You don't need to resign - or anything - just leave.  Why anyone at that church would be anything to do with your partner I do not know, and your sponsor is just another person who does not matter.
      
      I think you have been manipulated in some way and would probably be better changing your church anyway [I would advocate not going to any church at all, but you are not asking that] the catholic church that I remember will welcome you with open arms at any venue, most priests are genuinely helpful and if the priest is a dipwad then just keep looking until you until you find the right guy.

   Bible does not contain such pecularities.
   
   The verses say that the Revaltion was in Arabic; so it is with us and would remain with us as a sign that Sirit did bring it from the Creator-God Allah YHWH.
