New Google Dance / June Panda Update

    There is a new Google dance occurring related to the June (16-20?) run of Panda (2.2?). Anyone else noticing this? There are wild swings with my non-HP sites. One thing I have noticed is that the Google Adsense hits are all over the place - perhaps all the personalisation applied to ads gets changed. Or the ads assigned to a page gets changed in other ways. The CTR values are affected. Why should this occur?

      Yes, I have noticed that hubs that had rank the beginning of the month now have not rank.  There is just nothing we can do but wait it out.

      Yes, older non-HP web pages are shooting up in SERPs, while newer pages are treading water, unless they're linked to older sites. Then they're also moving up fast. I loaded a new page for a client on an old site and it shot up to page 1 in one week. Strange. I think the linking strategy used may have been a factor. Too early to tell and the data base is too small to derive any meaningful answer. I think if we wait to see how large sites are reacting, that might give some clue.

      Meanwhile, another website I uploaded last month is snoring. We're trying to wake it up by dribbling in backlinks.

      You are not the only one who noticed this.  I have a similar experience for the last half of this month.

    Difficult to form an objective opinion. However, when there are updates, Google usually make an official announcement pretty quickly and I have not heard anything.

      I read something last week from Google saying another Panda run was due.

    Quoting from an authority site:

    "   * Panda Update 1.0: Feb. 24, 2011
        * Panda Update 2.0: April 11, 2011 (about 7 weeks later)
        * Panda Update 2.1: May 10, 2011 (about 4 weeks later)
        * Panda Update 2.2: June 16, 2011 (about 5 weeks later)

    So what does this mean?
    Basically this means that if you were not hit previously, you might be hit now. It also means that if you make appropriate content changes, you may not see improvements for 4-6 weeks when Google runs the Panda application again.

    Over time (like PageRank) Google will develop the ability to constantly monitor content quality.

    For now, make sure you post as high quality content as possible. Avoid keyword stuffing, cloaking, hidden links, trashy spun content, etc.

    If you’ve been hit, be patient. Make the necessary changes and find other methods of traffic in the meantime.

    Hope it helps to allay your fears. smile

      I think you are right. Google evolves continually and makes sure that quality contents ranked high.

    What's the authority site, Sun Seven?  Could you link to it?

    Traffic to HubPages was only effected in Feb and April.  There has been no change to overall traffic here since.  But as the thread is about non-Hubpages sites, you'd have to look at those sites individually to assess them and the evidence from my sites is inconclusive.

        See that peak in the middle of that graph? That was the last time I reported in a thread here about the possibility of recovery.

        Next time it peaks I'm shutting up because history has a habit of repeating itself.
