The 10 States Most Addicted to Smoking
Antismoking efforts are hard to avoid nowadays. Cigarette packaging will get graphic new warning labels in 2012, and 38 states have at least some restrictions as to where a person can light up. (New York State has even banned smoking in public parks.) But despite this increased regulation, plenty of Americans continue to smoke—like chimneys.

Many of these states grow, or formerly grew tobacco as a money crop. Do you see a connection?
There are bans in Arizona to. You cannot smoke in nightclubs, restaurants or bars. You have to be so many feet from state and public buildings. There are signs everywhere. But people still light up. Many of the laws are really not enforced. I do not smoke, but do believe people are entitled to smoke if they choose. Smoking is a legal addiction that our tobacco companies created. Those companies are large money makers. I believe if they removed the chemicals that are in the cigarette, we would see less addiction and less smoking. Another way to exterminate people in our Country and make a mass amount of money. Those chemicals inside that cigarette, kill millions of people and the tobacco companies do not ever care. There warnings on there packages are frivolous They need to list all of the chemicals that are added to the cigarette and place it in the cigarette box. If millions read the list, maybe more people would quit.
interesting stats in the article. West Virginia has the highest percentage of adult smokers (27%) and also has a very high obesity rate.
Indiana still allows smoking in restaurants?
I don't understand how the poorest of people are often smokers. How much does a carton cost now? $40-50?
I live in an area where tobacco is a cash crop. as a matter of fact there are tobacco growers on my road. i grew up in the northeast and the laws are very strict on tobacco use.The local hospital just outlawed smoking on the property only recently...
I did see the connection to obesity and tobacco use...most people think smokers are thinner..not true..
