      After seeing him play against the Redskins last week, I wish that Washington had him instead of Beck and Grossman. He's already incredible. Now the pressure is all on Carolina to put a team around him that can compete for championships.

         I absolutely agree with this. Carolina now has a star quarterback, and they need to find the right players to back him up. Some great receivers would help.

   I think Cam Newton is a better pocket passer than most people thought. Including me.  He's adjusted to the speed of the NFL and looks to have a bright future.  Watching him against the Vikings now:)

   You can count me as one of the people who didn't think Cam Newton would be this successful . . . especially not in his rookie season with the Panthers.  But he has proved myself and many others so wrong!

   After watching Cam today against a tough pass rushing team, I learned he can stand tall in the pocket and deliver the ball down field with accuracy under pressure.  He's a very good football player and a tremendous athlete.  He's the real deal.  The team just doesn't know how to win yet, but they will learn.  It's too late for them this year, but look out next year.  They will need to get some receivers to help produce because Steve Smith isn't getting any younger.

   Cam is having a great season for a rookie quarterback.  As he matures and adjusts to the NFL game, he will get better and the wins will start coming.

   I was a huge hater of Cam Newton.  I thought he would be the next Jamarcus Russell.  But it looks like he is going to be really solid in the League.

    He most definitely will. He having as good a season as just about any rookie qb I can remember. Future hall of famer calling it now. He'll have at least oine Superbowl by 2020

    Quarterbacks don't win Superbowls, teams do.  Some really great QBs have never won one.
    
    He looks fantastic at this point, but NFL futures cannot be accurately predicted based on 8 games.

       I hate to say it, but if you don't think the QB's are the essential force behind the Superbowl, just take a look at what has happened to the Colts. I know that it is a team effort, but a great QB can motivate this to happen.

    You need only look at the careers of Trent Dilfer and Dan Marino to see the reality.  Trent Dilfer, a mediocre QB has a ring.  Dan Marino, one of the best ever, has none.
    
    A good,not great QB, Tery Bradshaw has 4 rings.
    
    John Elway had no rings when he was in his prime; he got his two as his own skills declined but a solid team was built around him.

       I'm with you.  QB's are unfairly graded on rings.  If Marino had a couple of rings, he'd be recognized as in the top three of all time.  He was that incredible.
       
       Although it's not really fair, there is some legitmacy in the argument of how qb's perform in the big moment.  Brady made his name by performing the best during the big spots.  Until the SB win, Manning was downgraded for poor performance during big games.  Both were reasonable reasons to grade them as qb's.

    I agree Ron...Manning will go down as one of the greatest QB's of all time (definitely the most intelligent) but will probably only get one ring because he's never had a defense like Dilfer had in Baltimore, or Johnson had in Tampa Bay.  It's all about the supporting cast.  I can't even think of a running back that Marino had throughout his career.  He had some great receivers in the Mark's brothers though.

    I'm a Redskins fan, and by the end of the Panthers-Redkins game I knew that Newton was the truth. Some of the passes he made downfield were insane. I remember after one of them I just stood up and clapped.
    
    Love him or hate him, he is definitely talented and seems to have a great grasp of the game already. He still has plenty to learn and they will need to get more talent around him, but not many people saw this coming.

    He definitely has a lot of potential, but the Panthers need to surround him with better players. He's putting up numbers, but they still end up in the Loss column every week. Must be frustrating. Hopefully, they'll put it all together.
