Basically the question I am asking other hubbers here is what is more important to them as a writer publishing hubs on hubpages. Would you rather right hubs that offer the highest potential for future financial gain or are you compelled by your creative instincts to write wild stories that quench your artistic thirst as a writer and crave the feedback you will receive about your stories from other writers which in turn inspires to push your creative limits even further. Personally, I love writing ridiculous stories filled with outrageous humor due to me creative thirst as a writer, and feed of the comments or feedback they receive from other writers or readers that thoroughly enjoyed my story or hub. On the other hand I do write about 30% of my hubs on topics with the soul purpose of earning revenue through hubpages add programs and so on and so forth. What I want to know is as a fellow writer publishing hubs on hubpages what is it you crave more, writing to earn money, or being compelled to write hubs that satisfy your inner voice that so desperately wants to be heard and only can be expressed in the form or words typed on paper? If you read some of my hubs you will probably agree that I write to satisfy my inner voice. How about you?
I think you should always go for the great story. Not that making money is unimportant, but money can be made in any number of ways and a commercial story isn't necessarily a great story. To write just for the money makes one kind of a hack writer, don't you think?
I agree with you 100% Disturbia. Even when I do write hubs simply because they are more marketable I feel like I am cheating and almost insulting myself as a writer and now a published author. To me writing is my escape, and by not writing on subjects that I feel compelled to write about I feel as though I am cheating myself. I appreciate your input, feel free to add any more thoughts or comments you may have pertaining to this subject.
Why do I write? Why do I write! I write to express myself, to find my voice, to yell loud enough for the world to hear “Save me from myself!” Most of all I write to let out what I never had the words to express to anyone. I slam ink on paper to free myself from lives prison of anxiety, hate, doubt, and people telling you that you are a mistake even though you are doing everything possible just so you can make it to see the light of the next day.
“Please all I want is one last gorgeous sunrise! The last one my father never got to see.”
I write so people can finally hear the fury of my wrath through my silence expressed in the form of ink and words written on paper. This world lost me a long time ago, and now I have finally found myself so I write most importantly so I can hear my own voice, here my anger in the words I always wanted to use but was too scared to say and now only knows the story about my life that screams out telling me how not to live.

Is it more important to develop characters first and then write a story around them or vice versa?
