   I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this or not, but just wanted to let you know......
   I think my personal e-mail was hacked, 'cause when I checked my "Sent" items folder, it shows short e-mails during 11/29 to 12/1 originating from my address to some of my friends and to some of my contacts here (including SirDent, and the HubPages Team, etc.) that have various links about products or sites.  It says "sent by T Mobile" etc.
   
     I didn't send any of those and am sorry if you received any!   I've now changed my password and dunno what else to do about this.   I had a friend who, last year, had the same thing happen to her; I received some of "her" e-mails and asked her about it;  she didn't send them personally.   She finally changed e-mail addresses and the false e-mails stopped.
   
   Just wanted to apologize and let you and/or anyone else who might've received that kind of e-mail from my address know I'm really not trying to spam anyone!

      Brenda, did you receive my e-mail about this?  It may have been stopped by some filter so that you didn't see it, but I sent you one several weeks ago.

         No, I didn't receive it, or at least didn't find it.  I admit I don't check my e-mails very often!  But I think I would've found one from you....
         What was it about?   Were you receiving spam e-mails from my address, or vice versa?

            I received 1-2 spam from your address.  I'll check the date; I probably kept a copy of what I sent you.

      I got one from you but knew better than to open it.  I have seen them way too many times before.  I lost a hotmail account a few years ago because of the very same thing.

   Oh, I understand the frustration of having an account hacked and hijacked!
   
   Unfortunately I couldn't find a copy of that e-mail, so here's what may have happened.  Since I could tell it was a spam e-mail, I flagged it as spam, but then wrote a note to you about it; but I'll bet that since I had marked it as spam, Yahoo! wouldn't deliver my e-mail - it probably just blocked all contact between the two addresses.  I'll go back in and see if I can change that.  Is your address the same as before?

   People are often careless with passwords.  You need too make them hard - no real words, include numbers and punctuation mixed case and  have different passwords for every important site.
   
   Never let your computer or phone remember any password if you have a choice.  Don't use any software that remembers passwords for you. 
   
   A simple way to do this is to have a word phrase and insert the site or function in there.  For example, my word phrase might be
   "It will be hard for you to guess this".  The basic password from that is "Iwbh4u2gt".  I'd use that for unimportant sites.
   
   For Google I might use IwbhGOOG4u2gt
   For email IwbhEMAIL4u2gt
   Hubpages IwbhHP4u2gt or IwbhPCUNIX4u2gt
   
   All easy to remember but very hard to crack.

      The type message that was sent to me was one that happens after opening an email that appears to be from a friend.  The account I lost was sending out vacation messages containing a link that I didn't set.  It was because I opened a similar message from a friend.  By the time I figured out what was going on, it was too late.
      
      That being said, Pcunix is right about making passwords hard to crack.  The harder the password the better off you are.  Brenda, you should change your password now if you haven't already.

         I too have opened links before from friends' addresses before I realized they were spam links.   Guess that's how mine got messed-up?   Yes I changed my password.  If that doesn't fix it, then I may have to change my address....I hope I don't have to change it.

         I bet you could come up with appropriate Bible quotes that you could easily associate with the site, giving you even more varying passwords.

   I generally use "normal" words and numbers combined for passwords but I have still had both one of my gmail and yahoo accounts hacked. They seem to get better and better at doing this every year!! In the last year or so I have lost count of the number of emails I have received from friends accounts where they have been hacked, something that I had never seen before..
   You would think that Google and co would penalize the companies that are then linked to from these spam emails!!!!
