Is America Becoming More Of A Theocracy?

   Each day, there is an intended assaults on the rights of women, gays, and other members of protected classes.  Religionists are campaigning and lobbying their respective senators and other government officials to outlaw abortion even in cases of egregious acts such as rape, incest, and/or if the pregnancy impairs on mother's life.   They have tried to have the Personhood Amendment pass but to no avail.  Religionists and conservative politicians are trying to erode women's reproductive rights bit by bit.   Also, the issue of gay rights and gay marriages are being questioned and/or often viewed as aberrant in their "Christian" society.   There is supposed to be a separation of church and state in America; however, this is becoming increasingly blurred.   If we are not vigilant regarding attempts to erode our rights, America will indeed become a theocracy much to our peril!  What is your take regarding this premise?

      I think that our side need to be just as viligant and remind our Congressmen and women what the Bill of Rights standard for...
      
      When was the last time you or anyone you know, wrote in protest over faith based organizations getting Federal grant monies or the diabolic injustices imposed on Gays right now?  I have written a few letters but, nothing on those issues.  Shame on me for too.  I, as a religionist am very passionate about those issues.  I am very committed to the rights of women and allowing us to be in control of our own bodies. 
      
      Lets be real here, when was the last time any of you took an honest stand on what you believe by
      taking action and penning your voice to paper to a Federal
      Representative?  (Whether religious or otherwise.)

         Mary Magdalen got his message better than any man.
         
         Time we stop pretending women are the weaker sex.
         The geatest strength is the willingness to bend, but the greatest weakness bends until it breaks!

      Considering that religion in general and Christianity in particulat are gradually being pushed out of the public square, publicity notwithstanding, I find it hard to believe that anyone actually thinks America is headed toward a theocracy. If anything, it's exactly the opposite. And the irony is, the vast majority of Christians, even conservative ones like me, understand that Jesus never preached theocracy for the government, it's an attitude of the heart.

      It's an extremely odd thing gm....if you read anything about psychopaths, you will find this people in it! And a LOT of people seem to see it too.
      
      I mean...what possesses someone to think they have the right and the perogative to tell another person how to live their life,
      Butt in where they don't belong,
      And tell you to your face that they are the party of freedom to boot!
      
      It looks to me, Dr LMC, as a clear case of dis-connecting with reality.
      Something has made their minds believe what they say is true, in the face of complete and total BS.
      "Sigmund, Sigmund...help me out!!"
      
      Repressed sexuality?? ahhhhhh, now we're getting somewhere!

      As for myself, my spiritual beliefs can be classified as New Age.   I totally do not believe in tradition religions because they are so out of touch with the postmodern era.   I believe that politics and other so-called authorities are using their religious agendas in areas that do not concern them especially in women's reproductive freedoms, particularly the issue of abortions and in same sex marriages.  This is the postmodern 21st century, not medieval times when religion was dominant with often quite disastrous results e.g. the burning of "heretics", Jews, and others who practiced nontraditional religions such as the Wiccans, otherwise known as witches.  This lesson in late medieval history shows us what happened when there was a totally hegemonic theocracy.  It was not pretty at all!
