Would you be happy if the world were ruled by a single government?

In other words, assuming that the emergence of the New World Order comes to pass, would you be happy to welcome our new overlords?

NOPE! We would all have to learn Chinese and the way I understand it - that is a hard language to learn. Now that I am closing in on fifty it seems a bit late to try and learn a new language. If you think the Chinese wouldn't mind being run by the likes of Harry Reid and President Obama - you're delusional.

I live in South Korea, where the Koreans learn English to talk to the Japanese. The Chinese learn English to talk to the Koreans, the Japanese, and the Americans. Singaporeans speak English, and, in India -- the world's largest democracy -- everyone speaks English.

English isn't becoming the international language, it _is_ the international language.

That's interesting. I would not like to learn Indian or Korean either. But regardless of whether or not Americans would have to learn any particular language or not the fact is if people had to listen to another culture and receive government from another group other than themselves we would all be on psyche meds. It would change the way everyone felt and it would be all negative. We may be under an illusion of safety with our own people governing us but that reality is the most powerful illusion we have - at the moment. And by the way we have tried this already with the British Empire and the Roman Empire and the Greek Empire before that - they all failed. All that is left is greek salad, olive oil and tobacco. I like them all but come on is it worth all the prozac we will have to take just to fail and come up with a new item on our daily menu. In fact I am going to make a greek sale with olive oil and vinegar and then I'll top it off with a cigarette.

You might be surprised at the number of expats who "listen to another culture and receive government from another group" without requiring psychoactive drugs.

I am speaking about Americans who are prone to taking psychoactive medications in the first place as they are advertised on television regularly. And our arrogance would be shattered if we had to listen to another group or authoritarian entity. We generally despise government and politics and Senators and Congressmen. We give Supreme Court justices a pass and Presidents are considered temporary CEO's so we just have to list to them for a little while. But if Chaing Kai Shek was around we would welcome him as Governor of California in a second. Plus Americans really like Chinese food so that helps.

It depends what government model the NWO selects.

Thank you for the thoughtful answer. :-)

I expect that it would be some sort of hybrid government, but a hybrid of what parts, I'm not sure.

I don't imagine the world's citizens will get to vote on their representation. Do you?

By world gvt---if it meant that every citizen of the world had food, healthcare and shelter---yes.

If it means that every citizen is a serf to world business....no.

It's a nice idea in principle but what kind of government would it be? So called free democratic where you get a bunch of loonies in power because the population are disillusioned with the political games? A theocratic government where the leaders claim to implement God's will but in reality personal freedoms are subjugated? A technocratic government where the people are subservient to the greater good?

I think the European single currency has demonstrated the folly of such ideas.

Oh and don't believe those right wing teabags who have interpreted the Book of Revelation to validate their claims of an Antichrist pulling the strings of a NWO/UN single government. It won't happen.

Most governments aren't proving to be that good at running a single country at the moment, so why entrust any of them them with the whole world?

The longest periods of relative peace that the world has ever known were during intervals of "world government."

      Look up Pax Romana.

There was a whole lot of world outside of the Pax Romana and even the Romans had continual problems with the Picts, Germans, etc.

Sadly we are closer to (one world government) that reality than we realize. Our business connections with foreign countries affects our financial and political operations in our own countries.

Nope. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely, and one world government is, by definition, absolute power.

A collectivist tyranny on a worldwide scale? No thanks, even small governments have the capacity for great evil, but at least you have the chance to move to somewhere else.

We still would, but it would have to be an interplanetary move and there are conflicting theories on how hospitable others might be to Earthlings.

The more governments the better, for reasons already mentioned.

Fed-up with a city? Move to another city.
Fed-up with a county? Move to another county.
Fed-up with a state? Move to another state.
Fed-up with a country? Move to another country.
Fed-up with a planet? Start studying metaphysics...
