   Republican Convention changed the schedule to pay respect to the people in harms way and assure the delegates are safe.  Now Louisiana is looking at worst damage than during Katrina.  The Republican governor has stayed home to take care of his state.  Yet the media is acting as though that isn't enough.  All the while nobody mentions the president who has continued with campaigning and fundraisers out west in Colorado.  .

      Obama was in Washington, DC this morning and addressed the nation in regards to Issac...this was a little after 10am CDT.
      
      Issac WILL NOT be more devastating that Katrina.... not possible..it is a category one status hurricane and has just about made landfall.  I have been monitoring it non-stop since 6am this morning as I write about such things.

   Sounds like the president is taking Isaac seriously.
   
   Like ...local and state authorities, President Barack Obama urged those in Isaac's path to listen to authorities and stay safe.
   
   "Now's not the time to tempt fate," he said from Washington, after signing an emergency declaration for the state of Mississippi like he had for Louisiana a day earlier. "Now's not the time to dismiss official warnings. You need to take this seriously."

      We do have the first landfall now, as of a couple of minutes ago....at the tip of a sandbar, more or less, but should be making a second landfall later on.  New Orleans is soon to feel the "main" force of the winds....and rain.....damaging types.

   Jindal doesn't like big gov't, but the Feds are not doing enough? Hmmmm... Personally I want to see the split screens on the convention folk and the flooded ones. But as someone already said this is not the hurricane that Katrina was, and the Feds hav spent billions to buttress the levees. We can only hope it all works well for the people of Louisiana and Mississippi, and all in harm's way. Politics does not belong in national emergencies.

      You're right that politics doesn't belong, but it sure was injected after Katrina. I believe Bush did exactly what Obama is doing now, telling people to do what they're told locally. But that wasn't enough according the his opponents. And before anyone tells me I'm wrong, I lived through Katrina. I watched all those press conferences live before the storm, but using common sense it just too much to ask of some people.
      
      Are there a lot of people who stay to ride these things out? Sure, they're doing it as we speak. My friends on facebook are posting photos of their hurricane parties! Dumb, dumb, dumb! But what are you going to do? Order evacuations? No one wants to do that because if the storm passes over then they look reactionary.
      
      Not liking big government has nothing to do with wanting them to do the things they are responsible for; like building and maintaing levees. Blanco was a complete idiot and failed the people of Louisiana by not letting the Feds provide help. Jindal will not be making that mistake. Neither will Landrieu (Mitch, not Mary) since he would be called a racist if anyone died while he was Mayor.
      
      Anyone who lives or has lived in NOLA knows that flooding is the big danger, and this one looks like a soaker, but hopefully the new levees and pumps will do their job and keep things dry. Otherwise more lawsuits will follow, and the taxpayers don't need to pay any more of that crap!!
