we won, we defeated the racists ,the bigots and the xenophobes
Thankfully we did. It is a great day for our country and for the 99% of us that Romney and the Republicans would have destroyed.
I always knew Obama would win and for one reason: in the end, good always wins. Those who spewed hatred in the name of Patriotism undid themselves and wound up causing more people to come out and vote for Obama than normally would have done so. It's time for the negativity to stop and the healing to begin.
And yet you fail to see the irony in what you wrote here.
Politics competes with religion on this one.
Still - my pals in Colorado tell me Marijuana is now legal there. Should be fun watching the fighting over that one.
Not really much the Feds can do with it. States do have the right to pass there own laws and if the people have spoken in Colorado (and Washington as well) then the Feds really have no say since the laws passed have the marijuana being taxed and regulated.
Totally inaccurate. The Fed always overrules the state. States can pass laws that are MORE restrictive than the Fed, but never LESS restrictive than the Fed. In other words, pot is still illegal and the Feds can still arrest someone in a state that has legalized it if it chooses to. Eric Holder simply chooses not to enforce the federal law in these cases, as he announced several years ago.
Well there have been a few states that passed laws legalizing same sex marriages, as it is their right. So immediately the right wing Republicans in congress passed a law that negates the state's laws in regards to Federal benefits, such as immigration and social security. I am sure those who are opposed to the legailization of marijuana are now looking for a way for the Federal government to negate them.
Also Washington? Thought I saw that-Oregon, on the other hand, said 'NO'! Odd...
I was thinking the same thing. lol
Please don't paint all Romney voters with the same brush, Mio!
you know what I mean Habee, now it's your chance to do away with the little Sleeping Bag Party and rebuild the Big Tent Party, isolate the Hannitys ,Limbaughs, and right wing loons and surround and embrace the Chris Christies,Christie Whitmans, and Mitch Daniels of the GOP.
I agree with that idea, but here's the problem. The conservative news is already claiming that Mitt lost because he was too moderate - the same thing they said about McCain. I might just have to become a Blue Dog Dem.
The fate of the hard right Senators should disprove that I hope. Much as I would like to see you become a Dem I hope it won't be necessary, if the GOP bother to look at the demographics they lost they should figure out what they need to change. I am happy to have a conservative economics party, it keeps everyone sane, but the social policies are largely bigoted and (I have to agree with Mio) xenophobic.
The three same sex marriage referendums might provide another hint.
Agreed. As I've said before, I feel that there isn't a party that truly reflects my views. I side with Dems on gay rights, the death penalty, and somewhat on abortion. I side with Rs on many fiscal policies. I even have a couple of Libertarian views.
That's like a girl not wanting to date me because I have a mustache....
And in response I grow a beard thinking I didn't get her because I didn't have enough facial hair.
Good moves Cody. It’s nice to see everyone in a better mood since the election is over. I wish Obama the best of luck, and hope he actually does what is best for America this time, and at least tries to avoid WWIII. In the spirit of unity, from a one libertarian to a whatever you are…Is this parent post immature?
I'm a moderate. I believe in being reasonable and that only reasonable people should be in Washington.
Its why I don't agree with a lot of what the GOP is doing right now. Hopefully, the GOP will take note and start doing more to help the country.
Mio cid, it has been A VICTORY INDEED! However, the sexists, racists, and xenophobes are lying dormant now, ready to STRIKE again and/or use ANY EXCUSE to do so! ONE MUST ALWAYS BE VIGILANT AND WATCHFUL! We are living in the 21st century and I WAS DETERMINED BY MY VOTE THAT MITT ROMNEY WOULD NOT BE GIVEN THE CHANCE TO DRAG US BACK TO THE " GOOD OLD BOYS DAYS" WHERE WOMEN, BLACKS, AND GAYS WERE SUBORDINATE, SECOND CLASS CITIZENS WITH LITTLE OR NO RIGHTS!
And we radical old time baby boomers are going to pounce on you with vengence with our guns, beat you with our Bibles & force you into submitting? Hmmm, well, I hadn't thought about that before, but now that you mention it.................
Can you believe these people think this way? I believe they are afraid to go outside and meet people and see that conservatives actually don't want to keep them down we just want some fiscal responsibility shown by our government! And yes it is our government too, we don't have to get in the back, we have a say! The entire House is our say, we sent them there to keep Obama in check, this is not a dictatorship no matter how much you want it to be.
What???? Will this never end???
I voted for Romney, yet I have black friends AND a gay son.
Not sure what the "xenophobe" comment pertains to, though...
Please quit categorizing everyone into little boxes...it's wrong, no matter WHO or WHAT you believe in...
That's what many Germans said when Hitler exterminated 6 million Jews.
It doesn't make one bit of difference who voted for who! Osama Bin Laden (aka Barack Obama) was going to win anyway and there was nothing anyone could do about it. I'm still trying to figure out what kind of hold he has on the USA.
I better quit watching Jesse Ventura.
I did not vote for Romney. However, I am not so lame as to believe that Republicans are racists, bigots and xylaphones.
True, I know several Republicans who aren't xylaphones!
I did not vote for the president. Does that make me a racist, a bigot, and a xenophobe? I've always been led to believe that liberal meant open-minded. Apparently, I am incorrect in that belief.
No you are not incorrect in that belief, and there are millions, actually the majority of the people who voted for romney, and people who voted for the republican party who are not bigots, racists and xenophobes or homophobes ,but the republican party as a whole was being held hostage and ruled by the vociferous crowd of right wing loons and limbaugh dittoheads.those are the people that needed to be defeated in my opinion so the rational, adults can take control of the party so that the whole country will benefit from it.
Ah. Perhaps a more specific designation of the GOP in the OP is called for. I can see how this might offend many of the more moderate electorate.
Just my two cents, though.
Carry on.
you make a fair point ,and I would like to make it clear that republicans and democrats, liberals and conservatives are just as indispensable in a democratic society, and are just as valuable in my opinion, they are capable of putting forward policies and legislation that can be of benefit for the whole country and all its people, the other ones, the extremists from the right and the left are the ones that usually cause nothing to be able to move one way or another, therefore benefiting no one.
You certainly are in this case at least. You're not alone, though - half the country didn't vote that way, either, and some of those that did are as racist or bigoted as they get.
Sadly, there are racists, bigots, and xenophobes all around us. As many registered Democrats as Republicans, I'd imagine. Thankfully, I believe the average American voter chose their candidate from a far more moderate place than is understood by the extremists on both sides.
Very true, but not so bad as it looks. The problem is that the extremists scream the loudest and make the most noise in their effort to "convert" moderates to their particular way of thinking.
Remain calm, look around quietly and listen to the man in the street that speaks in a normal, rational manner rather than screaming emotion laden statements that make no actual sense in your face. You will learn far more.
As evidence, I present the OP. What did you actually learn, aside from a minor tidbit about the attitude and character of the writer?
You know, that's probably the best advice I've ever received. Thank you.
My mother was always very quiet about her vote. She would never tell me who she chose in an election, but we talked a great deal about politics and so I could generally make an educated guess. What I always respected the most about her was her willingness to discuss anything political with anyone, but never to argue. She never raised her voice in a political conversation, and she never took the bait when someone of an opposite opinion attempted to reel her in to their more extreme ideas.
You'd have liked my mom...lol She gave the same advice in her actions that you just gave in your words.
Then I would say your mother should be one to list to. Someone giving reasoned, factual thoughts and statements, not simply producing highly connotative sentences void of actual meaning but with lots of innuendo if not outright lies.
"As many registered Democrats as Republicans, I'd imagine. "
Very doubtful unless you're referring to the period preceding the GOP's "southern strategy."
C'mon, Ralph. You're gonna tell me that all those southern Democrats are open-minded and liberal in all questions of race and religion? What about those who are not registered in any specific party? Are they automatically racists, bigots, and xenophobes because they aren't registered Democrats? I always find it fascinating when the Democratic party is touted as the party of open-minded liberals. People are people - and there are extremists on both sides - and extremists are not by nature open-minded.
I respect all political opinions (whether I agree with them or not), but I do not think that either party is peopled with demons and villains just because they think or vote differently from the other. It's unreasonable and untrue to suggest otherwise.
So, are you saying those racist Democrats voted for President Obama?
That's exactly what I'm not saying. I'm saying that anyone who believes that a win for the Democratic party is a win against racism and bigotry is wrong. It's a win for the Democratic party and nothing more. The southern Democrats of whom I was speaking are traditionally....well, perhaps the least offensive way to say it is that they tend toward fundamental religious expression and a distrust for those of other races. So, the idea that the US Democratic party is made up solely of liberal, open minded individuals is incorrect.
Of course they did. Obama's first victory was probably due more to the color of his skin than either his political record (nearly nonexistent) or his comments, which were almost exclusively empty political promises designed to win an election, not to describe himself.
Or are you of the mind that only whites can be considered racist, by definition?
I would really like to see you prove that in any capacity at all because it sounds like bitter bull to me and those claims with actual proof are all lies. I am sure plenty of people voted for Obama only because he was black, I am also sure plenty of people would never vote for him because he is black unless you know something the rest of us don't you have no idea which group is larger.
As for the straight up lies:
Obama had and has a much longer political resume than most people who run for president (take Romney for example) and had a very clear platform (healthcare, end the war in Iraq etc.) so it looks like you just take losing badly.
Just as you say, there were people that voted for Obama because of his color - do you really believe that none were Democrats? Because that's what I was replying to. As far as proof that there were enough such to tip the election I offer the same proof you do for the statement that " those claims with actual proof are all lies"; i.e. none (at least I did modify the statement with "probably"). Not that it would any good, as you seem to have already decided that any proof is a lie.
Yes, Obama had a clear agenda: "I will give you 'affordable' medical care. I won't tell you what it will cost, what kind of care or how good it will be, or how it will happen without bankrupting the country, but I will give it to you". That's what I said - empty political rhetoric intended only to draw votes. As I recall he also said he would bring our troops home, then expanded the number in the near east soon after he got into office. Empty political rhetoric, without the knowledge to back his statement, and intended solely to gather votes.
Personally I think the whole country lost (not that Romney winning would have changed anything). Our political scene has degenerated into near complete chaos with neither side willing or interested in actually doing anything with the countries best interests at heart and this election will change nothing. We've all lost.
As opposed to Romney who said he would increase the military budget, bring more tax breaks for billionaires, and balance the budget all by cutting social programs... and that it would take him 8 years.
Some people probably voted for Obama because he was black, as I'm sure many voted for Romney because he wasn't or Mormons who voted for him because his religion. People have been voting for those they feel they have more in common with for generations. It's not just a new think because Obama was elected.
Sorry, I don't know how to capture both posts.
Okay, you two. Let's find common ground. It is time to work together. I suggest not watching the agitated agitators on Fox news anymore. I think they may be using subliminal techniques that make you think their propaganda is an original thought.
It is not wise to have blind loyalism to "Pelosi Care" (that's right - Obama care is a misnomer), either. It was passed quickly with a disclaimer, "Let's get it through and then tweak it until it works."
If you have never gone broke, take it from me . . . sooner or later you have to quit taking stuff to the pawn shop and borrowing from relatives. You will find yourself in a despicable position. It is a war on the poor out here. The poor are on the brink of fighting back. A little help, please. You can afford it.
+1. Why can't our politicians work together? Your example of the poor is a good one.
Few would argue that some poor need help or that we should not provide it as a society. An awful lot, I think, come from my side of the argument; "Sure - I'll help. First, though, stop providing a lifetime of benefits to those too lazy to work. Stop providing almost unlimited luxuries, and luxuries I can't afford myself while billing me for them. Eliminate the massive fraud that we all know is in the system. Limit the help to those that actually need it - quit providing it to those that want food stamps so that their limited income can go to flat screen TV's, booze and cigarettes instead."
Stop requiring people in temporary hard times to lose all they've worked for years for while we provide for those that simply won't work. Straighten the system out and make it work right. Then I'll help.
But there's no compromise offered. Can't require people to actually work - that's demeaning. Can't require ID from illegals - that's racist. Can't make people show ID when using food stamps, to prevent selling them - that's embarrassing. Can't require low income residents to either take care of their building or get out - that's demeaning, too, and they don't know how to pick up the trash in the hallways or wield a paintbrush. Lots and lots of "can'ts", all aimed at giving more and more of the limited funding away without making any real effort to make sure it goes to where it's needed.
Isn't it ironic that the name the gop chose to name a program as a burden on the president's name may place him as a historic president?Imagine how happy johnson would be right now if medicare was named johnsoncare.
We'll never know, will we, just what he intended. I don't particularly doubt he would have made more tax breaks, although not for just the handful of billionaires. He MIGHT have increased the military budget, but he would NOT have balanced the budget and no sane person thinks he would have.
The only real difference might be that Romney said it would take 8 years, while Obama waited until he was sworn in to drop that particular bomb. Up until then the impression was that he would accomplish all the miracles in just four years he was elected for.
Either way, empty political rhetoric, lies and intentionally misleading statements. It's what our politicians do, whether D or R.
I'm a registered R, from decades ago, but do you get the impression that I have little use for either party?
I have been a registered voter since the morning I turned 18, and have never chosen to register with a party affiliation. I have voted both democrat and republican since that time - even once libertarian. I think my whole objection to this particular argument is the 'we won' attitude. Until we have a president who cares more for the nation he serves than the party to which he belongs, no one will ever win.
Yes, that's me. Registered R because that was what people did - pick a party. Voted what I felt like, though, without regard to that registration. Just like you, it's been all over the board over the years - I even voted for Ross Perot when he ran, and could care less what party local politicians are affiliated with.
I would rather see the party affiliation taken off the ballot entirely - might help stop voting a party platform because on is too lazy to follow the candidates and learn about them. Remove that party indication and draw straws to see who comes up in what order on the ballot. Might find totally different elections for most positions.
That could have been very, very different couldn't it? I've always wondered where we might have been now had that man held the reins for a few years, or even gotten a large percentage of the votes.
That was my primary reason for the vote tossed to Perot; knowing that he would never win, I still hoped he got enough votes to open some eyes in either party and make them think about what people actually wanted a little.
That's an interesting idea. I don't think I'd object to that.
Most, not all, of the southern racist Democrats have long since converted to the GOP.
Perhaps. That's something I hadn't considered, to be honest. I am neither a registered Republican nor Democrat, but I disagree that there are more extremists in either party. I believe that they are fairly evenly distributed between both, and think that's why so many are choosing NOT to be associated with either party anymore, regardless of how they vote. I have one single friend who is a registered Democrat and believes entirely in the party's platform. Everyone else I know is split on so many issues that they choose not to identify with either party specifically.
AND, to be fair, I know you are much more knowledgeable in terms of modern politics than I am. I wouldn't continue to argue specifics, because I'm not privy to all of them.
When I grew up in Louisiana the only state election that meant anything was the Democratic primary. The winner of the Dem primary essentially automatically became the governor because he faced only token GOP opposition. The GOP was practically non-existent then, but now the GOP has taken over nearly the whole state as is the case of most of the formerly Democratic states in the South. However, to be fair, the current Republicans are less racist than the old Democrats fifty years ago. The current governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal, is conservative but not a racist so far as I know. Ditto for some of the other southern state GOP governors.
Hmmm. Seems sound to me.
I guess I am a bit naive - rather, romantic - in my desire to see people vote their conscience rather than their party. It would probably put a person in the White House who truly cares for the nation they serve and doesn't spend 4-8 years just trying to please their party.
I thought you were a Detroiter, Ralph? I didn't realize you were a born Southerner. Of course, I like you either way - and respect your knowledge. Admittedly, the only Louisiana politician I'm familiar with is David Duke - UGH - and only because Louisianian Joe Dumars was playing for the Detroit Pistons when he was elected.
I don't believe we've had one in many years.
We do now. Watch.
We the people are the real problem.
You could be right. I don't like many of his policies, but in no way do I swallow those comments that he is deliberately trying to ruin the country. It's doubtful that he will ever enter politics again - why should he care what the party thinks, except that it also dictates how representatives and senators vote and could conceivably cancel out anything he wants to accomplish?
If you remember, right after the last election, his party hung him out to dry with their pork barrel budget. I don't think he liked what Geithner and the FDIC pulled when he left them in charge of TARP and the banking system while he was busy with other things. There's more.
People have been deliberately ruining the country in an attempt to get rid of him.
Don't believe that one either. To ruin the country, or just the economy, will also ruin nearly anyone in congress. They all have large investments here and will go down with the country.
I don't put it past most of them to deliberately do a little damage, but not complete collapse. And it certainly isn't past them to pass laws that are unpopular simply to hurt other politicians.
Check out Buddy Roemer. It is a new "New South".
Here in Florida, we have Kendrick Meek. They could work together.
Not only did the racist and bigot regimes lose., We actually have the first Gay senator ever elected in Wisconsin. And it is said that her sexuality was not even considered an issue in the campaign! That is definite progress!
Where are all the liberals that would condemn such words?
(((((CRICKETS)))))
Liberals (spit) that would condemn such words aren't members of HubPages. The Liberals (spit) here agree with every word.
spitting is a disgusting, nasty habit that most civilized people of any race, religion or political stance abhor. You may think it's clever, but it's just plain nasty.
And thank you to you as well, TT. Sorry, it's become a natural response when I write or say the word liberal (spit) mainly because of how some of them have acted here on HP before and after the election.
Oh my.....We are all screwed now. Let's call this country Amerika instead of America.
This thread kind of reminds one of the "One Tin Soldier" song, doesn't it....
I agree with Habee, it's only a small minority of Republicans who fit into that. Most are pretty decent people like Habee is
Its not the that there is a small minority of Republicans who fit into it. It is the Republicans choices of leadership that I think needs to be dissected.
Today we really need to remember that "We remain more than a collection of red states and blue states. We are, and forever will be, the United States of America."
There is clearly a need to understand and categorize the outcome as well as the process.
What just happened?
Why did it happen?
Why did it not go the other way?
What does this mean?
Is the result an affirmation that Americans were happier with Obama's first term than they let on?
Is the result a rejection of something/everything Romney stands for? What Ryan stands for?
Does Obama's win mean 47% of Americans really are takers and want to continue taking?
Does RR's loss mean Americans don't believe they'll create American jobs?
Did Obama win this race?
Or dId Romney lose it?
I suppose it all depends on where you sit.
Maybe it's time to switch seats, so we each get a little different perspective on the next four years.
Interesting questions.
What just happened? Obama won a very close election and didn't do as well as he did the first time. That alone should tell him something.
Why did it happen? I would say there are a lot of people who want stuff and Obama gives them stuff! There are people who just want to see him do well and are convinced he needs more time. There are some who just are very ignorant voters and the only news they get is from Mtv or some other equally ridiculous place.
Why did it not go the other way? For the same reasons already stated.
What does this mean? That once again our country is split down the middle, maybe Obama needs to move that way too.
Is the result an affirmation that Americans were happier with Obama's first term than they let on? No, or it wouldn't have been this close.
Is the result a rejection of something/everything Romney stands for? What Ryan stands for? No, or it wouldn't have been this close.
Does Obama's win mean 47% of Americans really are takers and want to continue taking? Hmmm, see first answer.
Does RR's loss mean Americans don't believe they'll create American jobs? Some Americans believe that, some Americans believe in Bigfoot too.
Did Obama win this race? Yes and no!
Or dId Romney lose it? Yes and no!
Obama won re-election and has a mandate from the American people no matter what Rush LImbaugh might tell you.
Why did it happen? People believe in Obama and understand that things are starting to get better.
Why did it not go the other way? Romney was a terrible candidate
What does it mean? It means that the GOP better start participating in government and thinking about the people over politics.
Is this an affirmation that people are happier with Obama than they let on...well yea, or else he wouldn't have won.
Is this a rejection of what Romney/Ryan stand for....Yes, or else they would have won.
Does the 47 percent still want to take stuff....No, that was essentially a lie/talking point with no basis anyway
Did Obama win the race.... Yes, he did win, right?
Congratulations!!! Spoken like a true liberal, Cody.
You do realize that Obama got a higher percentage of the popular vote than Clinton or Bush did when they were elected?
You and I both know that the 47 percent garbage is a fabrication and a lie
If Romney was the better candidate, why did the GOP work so hard to replace him with ANYBODY else
If Romney/Ryan had such a great plan, why didn't they win? Hence, Obama is the better candidate/the man who America wants to lead the country.
In the words of Bill O...
Tell me where I'm wrong
Wow!!! You do realize Obama won and you can stop talking like walking Obama talking point? Right?
Here's an idea. Breath, Cody. Now, repeat. Continuously, if you like.
Eh, you claim that my post sounded like something that only a liberal would say...
So, I back up my argument with facts....
Is that OK?
Is that not going to be an intelligent conversation?
All you did was spew tired, old, liberal talking points, Cody, but that's okay. I wasn't expecting anything more and I wasn't disappointed.
What you call facts to us are talking points and vice versa, Cody. We'll just have to agree to disagree. You like Obama. I don't. You think he's doing a great job. I don't and, honestly, since that's your standard, I'm glad you don't work for me.
Hold on tight, Cody. Things are going to get a lot worse under Obama before they get better. Thing is, now, Obama has to own it. It's all his and I know he's going to cluster screw it up even worse than he already has. Mark my words.
I don't think you understand what a fact is then.
No, I don't believe anything a liberal (spit) says is a fact is actually a fact anywhere other than in that liberal's (spit) head.
See, if it isn't a liberal fact it isn't a fact. Heres a fact, Obama said in 2008 he would have the deficit cut in half, has he?
Nope, and while I would argue that their are several reasons why that didn't happen, I'm not stupid enough to take a verifiable thing and try to claim its some partisan spin on your part.
Would you consider it a lie on Obama's part?
Would you consider telling the American people that our embassy being attacked in Libya was because of a video when he knew otherwise a lie?
Obama bashing is going out of style. Learn a new tune, like "Hail to the Chief".
How is that Obama bashing? And I doubt it will ever go out of style, its way too easy.
No, just inexperience on his part. Besides, all candidates make bold statements. I'm sure you really thought that Romney would end the recession, get rid of every single illegal and reform health care in one day right?
Repeating the video story and sending his lackeys out to tell us the attack was because of a video was due to inexperience after almost 4 years as president?
That is a lie!
I'll cut him some slack on the deficit mistake, thats just because he ain't the smartest tool in the shed, thats why thinking Americans didn't believe him and voted for the other guy!
Oh, right, Benghazi....
It was a terrible tragedy. If you do any research at all you will realize...
Eh, you probably don't know what research is..
Carry on with talking points...
I actually have some work to do
I'd like to hope, too, it's only a small minority of Democrats who think "like that" (like the sentiments expressed in the title of this thread). I think I'll go re-disappear from the forums for another couple of months (at least).
i guess there would be racists and bigots voting for obama too....in end it is never black and white...
Mio, nothing worse then a "Sore Winner". Not all Republicans are painted with the brush you described.
What can/should the GOP do to reach out more effectively to African-American, Latino, LGBT, women voters?
Or, is the party's future to continue moving right and more fiscally and socially conservative and pray that the white base grows??
I am a Republican and I do not like being labeled. But since we live in a Democracy and the system elected President Obama then I, and so should everyone else, must respect the decision of the majority and be proud that we live in a country that allows for dissension. We should now work towards making this a greater country, one to be proud off and work to change the things that we do not like or work to make the things we like even better.
Democracy works and respecting the processes through which it functions is not only a responsibility but a duty as well.
I'm a gracious winner as well as a loser and the President ran a good campaign and others can learn from this. Lets start by respecting others...............
@LuisEGonzalez, I agree 100%. Put aside our differences, work together, and respect each other!
Louis: The thoughts you expressed here are those spoken by a true Patriot. Wish there were more like you!
It's an honor to have read your gracious comment. Thank you
you are absolutely right and I couldn't agree with you more,I hope the GOP can break free from the extreme right wingers and reach agreements and compromise to the benefit of the whole country.
Perhaps the racists , bigoted and losers are actually the ones in power now ! To suggest that dems are not of the formentioned character traits is blind and immature ! Ever heard of reverse-racism ?
You shoule realize that there's just as much bigotry in the laft as there is on the right ! And another thing , it's there for everyone to see ! In four more years the idealism's that you hold onto so tightly will be a thing of the past and the thing is , you wont be any better off then either ! Yeeaaa ! We just became a more European society !
Society no, but government yes, and that is a good thing, a government more like Germany's or even a government more like Scandinavia, strong economies, much higher quality of life and much less poverty. Norway is the wealthiest country in the world per capita (excluding mini nations like Monaco).
Which is precisely the point, America isn't yours it belongs to the people who just decided what should happen and if you want to move to somewhere else that is like "the America of the past" you will find nowhere because every other country around the world has also decided that the traditional American model doesn't work. Time to wake up, it's a new age.
Oh its a new age alright , How does it feel to be entitlement fat , economically second rate , Ever increasingly in dept , and so full of european idealism that we can only go in one direction ......down like they are ! Sighting foreign countries economic livelyhood is great if comparing apples to apples .......most of them are socialisticly inclined and you know that .
Most of them are "socialistically" inclined and most of them are doing much better than us. In general the further to the left they are the better they are doing.
Yea , like Greece , Spain ? eastern european ? Which one's of them are'nt subsidized by another one larger than them .? Most peope realize that we are the big dog in the economy , they are all watching us decide how we're gonna act ....and what do we do , become like them ! Thier economies don't support themselves !
Excuse me, but your post is bigoted. We need to be better neighbors. Then everything else will fall into place. Don't be a hater.
We normal folk are through with it all. This post needed to be brought up because the rage, selfishness, greed and hate are not over with. Let's not stop until they are out of the Supreme court, the HOR and give us a filibuster proof Senate.
Then this nation, the parts of it that are for real, can heal.
Where are you from? How do you claim to be normal?
Oh, wait, I have to catch my breath!!!!!
My point is nothing Xenonlit posts can be taken seriously with it being laced with such hatred for anything she/he disagrees with.
Oh come on, LH. You're hardly in a position to talk about hatred when you can't even type the Liberal without typing the word spit at the same time. Does that mean we shouldn't take anything you say seriously?
once again Hollie .. you are hitting the nail on its head!!!
You and Wavegirl, and anyone else for that matter, can take what I say any way you like. My attitude is brought on by people like Xenonlit and her ilk who are nothing but sore winners, thus my (spit) response when I mention the word liberal.
Thanks for the laugh, MM. I'll be the first to concede the Republicans need to do some soul searching. While I think we must do something about illegal immigration, those brought here as children really had no control of what was being done. Perhaps a path to citizenship should be streamlined and put in place.
This and other things must take place to bring the Republican Party more to the center. By the same token, don't expect me to be more receptive to Obama. To me, he's still a horrible president and will only make things worse.
You were using (spit) before Obama won the election, LH. And your attitude is your responsibility, noone else is responsible for the way you behave, or your attitudes to other people, just you.
Why, thank you, Hollie. Your points are taken and as long as there are people on here like Xenonlit, I will continue to voice of opinion as I see fit.
THis thread is a loaded post , bigots and racism are best discibed as those who assume perfection by this election, People who are against this president aren't racists, they are realists ! They don't see black and white by the choices of win or fail , only the OP does !
A bonus joy I have gotten from the election result is to listen to the right wing nut talking heads who spent the last few years celebrating before hand how they were going to defeat this president whom, according to them most of the country despised except for a few LBRLS.... (read socialists )have to realize that in the real world the majority of the people would rather reelect this president than empower a political party being held hostage by the right wing loons.
Of all the divisive dialog in our political world today the worse part of right and left dialog is that we are soo lamely devisive and ALL of it because we are so comfortable in our own culture of political and social immaturity!
The election is over. But the battle is not. Our republican party is still overtaken by the GOP, misinformation is still running rampant, and ignorance and apathy is still surrounding us.
Bottom line is, Mitt was the embodiment of so much that is wrong with politics in our time. It is time to stand against the Nitt-Witts who oppose a fair and equal nation.
How is a man like Mitt Romney the problem? He was a Republican Governor who worked with a democrat congress and got good things done. His health care plan was the model for Obama's plan, seems to me the problem is the democrats who don't have a single idea or at least any workable ideas to get this country back on the right track. Obama's followers voted for him for stuff not for any other reason! He has been a failure from the start.
seriously R. you need to break from the talking heads' talking points.stuff, things, santa claus obama, that is not the reason obama won, those are only the reasons limbaugh's and oreilly's bank accounts grow.
Yes a Republican Gov. that couldnt carry the state he was Gov of. 'Mitt was wildly unpopular in Massachusetts, his home state. Obama carried Massachusetts by 23 percentage points. Romney claimed to have been an effective Governor who practiced bipartisanship, but the word got around that he had been an arrogant, dogmatic prick.'
His running mate couldn't even deliver his home state of Wisconsin (where the GOP ticket lost by a stunning 6.7 percent
Fact is Romney was nothing but an untrustworthy candiate. He had taken just about every position on every issue saying whatever he thought would get him elected. It never was clear what he believed in other then the candidacy of Mitt Romney.
Great candiate the Reps picked. Maybe the next election they will come down to reality and give the party someone worthwhile.
Of course Mitt' lost in his home state! They allow Gay marriage and the Republicans oppose it! and Ryan couldn't help Wisconsin because he announced so late into the contest that nobody knew diddly about him!
The US is economy is growing though, albeit sluggishly. Look around the world- the countries hit by recession, they cannot say the same. Obama's economic policies, if nothing else, are delivering some results. Looks like he's doing something for the country from where I'm sitting.
Best comment today by Martin Bashir: "The GOP is going through Kubler-Ross's five stages of grief." [In response to a comment by Paul Ryan on how popular his and Romney's ideas are.]
Fortunately the fifth stage is acceptance , we move on ! Obama will continue in his dogmatic pace of doing absolutely nothing for this country! Yet empty rhetoric flows freely like cheap talk from a car salesman ! Here's the thing , Romney was a poor pick for a candidate- simple ! . The GOP simply failed to deliver even one touchdown in a game of dynamic youth vote marketing and Rhetorical promises from a great intellectual Idealist like O-man straight into the innocence of gullible minds of the average college kid mentality of the left !
Now i hear many republicans saying Romney was a poor choice but only a few weeks ago it was hard to find a single republican who didn't drink the cool aid and thought Romney was going to win in a historic landslide. Most republicans were already celebrating and saying how they were going to repeal obamacare, torture all illegals into self deportation, name some supreme court justices to enable the overturn of roe v wade. And in reality the majority of the country may be center right but the key word there is CENTER.
It's good to know you have such accurate information about what the Repubs and right wingers were going to do....I read that article in the Enquirer too!! Gee! Can you believe they were going to actually torture illegal aliens? Oh my, in all humanity, what stark barbarianism!
all I'm saying is not heresay it's what the candidates themselves and their mouthpieces said they were going to do.the joy in seeing their defeat was indescribable .
@donotfear - I have to tell you, that pic is great. I love it.
If Republcans drank the Kool-Aid, you drank the Flavor Aid (that's what they drank in Jonestown).
I voted for Romney as the lesser of two evils. He was a poor choice since Obama was vulnerable and there could have been a Republican ticket that could have defeated him. I also voted for Democrats like Kathleen Kane for Attorney General of Pennsylvania.
Not one Republican I know thought Romney would win in a landslide. Most thought it would be close.
Is the grape Flavor Aid your favorite?
That's the politically correct answer.
Sure, the cherry tastes great but my favorite the lemon-lime is less filling.
Hey, we should make a commercial together.
You're correct about that. Because the key word most certainly is not RIGHT.
Sad state of affairs when the majority of a Nation's citizens are WRONG, indeed.
Give it a rest will you? Never have I seen such an unsportsmanlike attitude. The left wingers claim to be more tolerate but yet are quick to call names even after they have gotten their way. Grow up.
Believe in your false prophet if you want - he had to cheat to win. Is that who you really want leading us?
Yes, Yes he totally cheated and I bet you have proof too what a joke.
@Josak - I voted for the big - O - four years ago. Since I was disappointed in both - I didn't vote this time. Does that make me a bad person? But I'm with you Josak - No one should say he "cheated" unless they have proof! Slanderous statements are NOT smart! I don't care who's side of the fence you're on!
It was mind control

I swear they are getting crazier every day. I keep reading these things coming from GOP elected officials. Who needs the Daily Show any more?
In todays America, the entire political system has evolved away from its origional intended focus. A democraticly designed system of allowing popular beliefs to elect a representative . What we now have is image marketing , even subliminal methods of presenting a candidate for choice. Just think in a year or two you will be able chose from a lineup of halogram images! It won't even be a "real" person anymore . Just an image .------- The perfectly polished and flashy empty suit , a pure statesman with a perfectly pivoting head for the teleprompters . The long black two thousand dollar rain coat open and blowing in the wash of the hellicopter blades as he waves at the press ! His black shoes so polished that in thier image you see all reflections, you can even see the camera's flash bulbs popping away from his feet , imagine , mercurial wings of pure and unadultered image carrying him away safely from the helicopter. We won't even have to chose anymore , no vetting , no voting . These new -' West World ' presidents will be perfect ! Here's the beauty of it though , you can still drink the pre-mixed cool aid of choice!

Paul Ryan stated that Trump's accusation of his Judge's bias due to his Mexican heritage was the very definition of racism, but he still supports the Republican nominee. Why can't he just call Trump a racist? And admit that racism is rampant in the Republican party.

It's so obvious it's almost laughable, especially when the racist card is played on the Tea Party. This is the political strategy of the left, to use racism to their advantage. The left will never recognize the progress of minorities, in fact they will work behind the scenes to prevent it just so...

What do you think about Mitt Romney being the first president in U.S. History to have millions stashed in offshore Tax Havens. You know I saw this tonight and it really bothers me that we keep letting people like this run for the US President. I'll tell you right up front that I don't support the...
