Let me turn the CNN question around.
I see people wearing red santa hats, and neighborhoods decorated with all the symbols associated with December 25th.  So, my question to these people as they are decorating their tree is "where is God"?
If the majority is celebrating Christmas with heavy emphasis on everything but, and presents instead of Jesus, wouldn't God stay far away?  After all; people have turned their backs on him.  Why should he suddenly show up when there is a tragedy?  What about the rest of the year?  So, few even acknowledge God ever.
Sorry if I'm ranting.  He is real and is sovereign.  He has a personality, and he wants  his creation to look to him everyday.

Then maybe he should ensure that good things happen to people, instead of bad things. Personally, I don't think any deity is responsible for all the atrocities which happen in the world, but man. However, if you insist on a deity- then now is the time above every other, that he demonstrates that good things can happen.

That is the personality of one who is a petty and selfish attention whore.

This is one who has given you life, and given you the decision to accept him or deny him.
God gave his only son, so you and me may be saved.

Saved from what exactly? Sorry you feel the need to interject your religious beliefs into this tragedy and thereby demean the families involved. I hope Jesus is proud of you taking this opportunity to take advantage of this moment. Very, very well done. sad

Sorry, but your irrational beliefs in an invisible super friend are of no consequence to me or reality.

I am in no need of being saved by your belief in invisible super friends.

What; you think I worship Captain America?  Scripture has been scrutinized by millions of people over time.  Many smarter than you and me.  Overwhelmingly; people point out the amazing accuracy and deep spiritual truths.  One truth, is that without Jesus, you'll not see glory.

                You mean:
God fearing, Holy Ghost filled, and worshiping the Lamb of God people?  Yeah

I can smell the Fear on you. Never pleasant that. Certainly convinced me I made the right choice. Imagine an eternity with that level of smug self righteousness. sad

You know, I love engaging with intelligence.   I just do see that in you.  You offer nothing of value.  Your best at name calling and poor classifications.  The fear I have to be honest, is you and people like you who put you nose up to God.  As if you would defy the creator, and take up a moral challenge with him.  I'm also not self righteous, I'm a sinner saved by grace!

"Surrender? SURRENDER?! YOU THINK THIS 'A' ON MY HEAD STANDS FOR FRANCE?!"

While many others point out it's glaring flaws, contradictions and viciousness.

And, seeing glory means what, exactly?

What nonsense. He is real only in your mind. I suggest you seek mental health care.

If you assume gods don't exist, it all makes sense.

And good things do happen all the time, but do we ever stop to thank him?  You don't even call him by his name; to you he's just a deity.

The belief in a God is so beyond my understanding. Why anyone would choose to believe in something that sits around and allows this to happen is beyond me. How can anyone believe in a God with all that happens around us. Plenty of strong believers are homeless. Why would a God allow that to happen to his believer. Beyond me.

He does not stop the horrible atrocities in war and invasions so why stop this? It is on an equal level in my mind.
