Are these snow storms we are experiencing, a sign of the end?

Various professional news programs, are admitting that weather conditions have never been this bad since they began to maintain records. We are getting hit by one major snow storm after another. Our electrical and road crews are on call 24/7. Are these conditions what Jesus warned us about in the Bible at Matthew 24:7-22, concerning tribulations that have,, "not occurred since the world's beginning until now, nor will occur again?"

Yes, your only hope in getting to heaven is to give all your money to charity and I have just the place for it. Forward me an email so we can figure out how to help you get your money into my account as quickly as possible. I don't want you to think about this or as anyone for advice.

      P.S. No.

It is my hope that you are making a joke. Please remember, people have died due to these type of storms. Over 700,000 were without electricity. Many have resided in their homes in the cold for days without electrical power. I feel pity and pain within my heart for these people.

When you try to follow in the footsteps of Jehovah and his son Jesus, we not only pray for our neighbors but we give our time and efforts for free to help them. I am not perfect but genuinely try to look at Jesus' life and minsitry as an example for how I should treat others. The books of the Apostles within the Bible, have been a major source of encouragement for me. In the end, each of us will have to answer for our treatment of each other. We certainly would not want to scam, hurt or humiliate them during their time of need.

        Thanks again for your response.

The key phrase there is, "since they began to maintain records" which isn't that long ago. And considering that many lifeforms survived the ice ages, the Bible is rather irrelevant in that regard.

I think it is only a sign of the end of winter approaching -- so, Old Man Winter wants to make sure to leave a lasting impression.

I think we are in the end times, but I don't expect that Jesus will return for another 100-200 years.  So much has yet to happen.  If you think about it, Russia has to invade Israel, and then anti-Christ has to come.

I did not realize that Russia was mentioned in the bible.  What are you referring to here?

Lybrahposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Russia is mentioned in the bible but under a different name.  According to the book of Revelations, Russia and the other countries of the middle east are supposed to attach Israel.  It is during this time that the anti-christ will reign, and then Jesus will come back to Earth to defeat him.

          1. wilderness profile image95
wildernessposted 10 years agoin reply to this

If a different name is used, how can you know it refers to modern day Russia?

And Russia is not in the middle east; there are no "other countries of the middle east" unless you mean that countries other than Israel will join with Russia to attack Israel.  Which I would find rather unlikely to say the least.

They get that because they are interpreting the bear as being Russia, ... BUT, in Daniel, Gabriel interpreted Daniels vision stating the bear represents Persia.
Also according to what is written in Daniel, this thing called the rapture will take place when the 14th emperor of The Roman Empire dies, which was in 138 AD.   If we are to believe prophesy as written in the bible, everyone doesn't get to have their own private interpretation.

If we are going to attempt to understand the true interpretation of these visions, the only way to do that would to remain consistent concerning the meaning of these beasts as described by Gabriel.   ....   or don't even get started.

You are right.  It keeps the mind occupied.   But if we are on a treasure hunt, and we disregard the first instruction to take ten paces east, by first taking ten paces west; it doesn't matter how precise we follow the rest of the directions, we find ourselves confused. And don't come near the treasure; It can still be worth it, we get some exercise, fresh air ... and had a good time.

Yes. Absolutely. An end to the winter in the Northern Hemisphere. And then we'll be looking forward to the promise of spring.  Nothing to get excited about.

Well, since they are only affecting a small percentage of the world I'd say you are laying too much emphasis on a local weather pattern. When they forecast fire and brimstone, let us know. That might be an interesting discussion. smile

Thanks for your very interesting response. Another major snow storm is on its way, so these are really "criitical times, hard to deal with" for individuals who are experiencing one storm after another. I have truly learned to respect and appreciate what the Bible says about "the difficult, never seen before," things we are experiencing and will continue to experience in the future. I am not too concerned about the brimstones, due to my faith and daily reading of God's word.

      Thanks again.

It's good to care. But, we should be willing to put our concerns into perspective. I think we all suffer from the malady of not being able to do that.

I hope you and yours stay safe and warm through this storm and you should remember that others around the world suffer daily, not simply when the odd southern front dumps a little snow.

Thanks for your concern. My family and I are doing alright through these difficult times and I give all thanks to Jehovah God. Concerning the difficulties people are experiencing throughout the world, I pray daily for the safety of all mankind. I know this can only occur through the kingdom Jesus taught us to pray for at Matthew chapter six that is mentioned in the Bible.

Thanks again for your concern and response.

Not to be picky, but you should really look into the history behind that name 'Jehovah'. It's akin to referring to the God of the Bible as Bob, or Tom. Really. It isn't the historical name of the deity.

How quickly we forget!  Only 15,000 years ago the current warm interglacial did not exist and much of the northern hemisphere was under an ice sheet.

Winters are nothing compared to what they used to be!

No.  It has been worse than this in the past, and it will be worse than this in the future.

The end times, should they been real, will probably be a little more impressive than a foot of snow.

Thanks again for your response. A guest on my page by the name of Danise, gave this response; "In regards to weather related disasters, be it snow storms, floods etc., many scientist believe that humans-induced changes in the earth's atmosphere and oceans are altering the world's climate and contributing to more dangerous weather.  Nine out of every ten disasters are now climate related. Recorded disasters have doubled in number from 200 a year to more than 400 over the past two decades. (Are snow storms and other disasters a sign of the last days?) Many terrifying things that have taken place on the earth today, mark the conclusion of the system of things but God is not the cause of it, man's activities have ruined the earth. They play a big role in weather related disasters."

Jesus explained that when we see these things occurring, know the kingdom of God is near based on Matthew chapter 24. This kingdom of God is a heavenly government of God's making. It will bring about changes on the earth, even bringing natural elements under control such as bad weather conditions.

What people fail to understand is that for the last few thousand years, the weather and climate have been going through a relatively "calm" phase. It cycles.

Catastrophic weather is more common, overall, than what we perceive to be "normal".

I would even suggest that our current civilization was able to form so easily due in part to this calm cycle of climate.

Jesus explained that when we see these things occurring, know the kingdom of God is near based on Matthew chapter 24.

===============   This is an excellent example  where people are not reading what is actually written.       Jesus didn't explain that when WE see ...; I believe there is a strong reason why in Matthew Mark & Luke, they express this was a "PRIVATE" conversation between Jesus and these four disciples; Peter James John and Andrew.  There is a reason this word was included in the retelling of it.

Jesus didn't tell them that SOME Day, when these things happen "Those" people who are alive "then" will see these things happen.  NO! that is not what happened!
In a PRIVATE conversation ....   Jesus told Peter James John and Andrew that "THEY"  are going to see these things happen, and some things are going to happen to "them"   And when they happen, know that the end is near.

Jesus told these four disciples, "Nobody knows the day or hour"    (didn't say anything about the year and/or month) "This Generation shall not pass till all of these things happen to you.
That society of that day were not in the least interested in what is going to happen to some generation of people 2000 years in the future.  If that were the case? It would not have been important enough to write it down or keep retelling this story.
Imagine if You were standing in front of Jesus, he is looking you in the eyes and he spoke those words to you.  When You see this and when they do this to you.  Would you believe he WASN"T talking to YOU ?

I personally interpret the whole thing as a prediction of internal events, not external. A sort of spiritual event, not actual events happening outside in the world.

I'm not certain if that's what you're getting at too?

            1. Jerami profile image59
Jeramiposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Maybe that too.   I was really just looking at what is written and how religion, out of necessity, changes the story.  I'm pretty sure that Peter, James john and Andrew was thinking Jesus was talking to them about things they were going to see and things which was going to happen to them.  What makes me think that is because those things did happen to them.

I don't think Jesus ever spoke of the end of the world, but the end of days for the Hebrew Culture, the Hebrew Nation.  I think that because 100 years after he spoke those words, It happened. In 135 AD Hadrian began deporting the entire population of Israel. In is written in encyclopedias that before 150 AD there was not a single Hebrew to be found in all of Israel.   Millions and millions of Hebrews being relocated through out the rest of the Roman Empire.   If the story about the rapture is true ?? 144,000 people magically disappeared, NO ONE would have noticed.

I don't think anyone can honestly say they believe the bible when they change what they read to conform to what is being preached from the pulpit.

    No.

They have been saying, "Is this the end?" since the very beginning.

If you think this is bad, try 70,000 years ago, when the human population was reduced to 20,000 or so people due to a volcano eruption.

Sorry, that you never had this experience. Snow falling from the sky can be a beautiful sight. We've just had an abundance of it lately. That is why the majority of people on the east coast can't wait for spring to come. Although it has been a blessing, to experience the different seasons which the northeast truly allows you to see. Fall, has its beautifully colored leaves. Winter, roars in with brisk cold weather that culminates with snow.  Spring, comes in with its tremendously exquisite blooming flowers and trees.  Summer, with its hot summer days and lazy afternoons.

Thanks for your response and hopefully, you will get the opportunity to experience snow in the northeast without the overwhelming abundance of it.

It is just the weather.   There is no religious significance to this, just meteorological/scientific occurences nothing more nothing less.  Many scientists indicate that the current en masse snowstorms and other snowy weather is a harbinger of a coming Ice Age and the changing of climatic patterns.
