Have you had your fill of GMO foods today?

And that Roundup causes health problems means that GMO foods do as well?  How do you come to that conclusion?

    Glyphosate is in herbicides.

Have you missed that the point of Round up ready (GMO) crops was to reduce the amount of herbicide you had to use?  That makes them the hero in this story.

As usual Natural News has utterly failed to understand the research they are reporting on--if they read it at all.

This is a myth, amongst many others propagated by Monsanto and friends. See below

Myths and Truths of GMO (PHd study from June 2012)

Um.  I read the actually study NN was reporting on (which you apparently did not) and they got it wrong. Just completely wrong.

GMOs do not contain glyphosate.  If you want to claim otherwise, provide evidence.

Or just keep perpetuating nonsense because the NN article is either idiotically stupid or a deliberate lie.

          Who said GMOs contain Glyphosate?

Did you digest this quote from the scientific study?
" Glyphosate is also used to prevent weeds in fields with glyphosate resistant genetically modified (GM) crops like soybean, rapeseed, corn, etc. Since 1996 the amount and the number of genetically engineered crops dramatically increased worldwide. It is estimated that 90% of the transgenic crops grown worldwide are glyphosate resistant [1]. The rapidly growing problem of glyphosate-resistant weeds is reflected in steady increases in the use of glyphosate on crops. Steams, leaves and beans of glyphosate resistant soy are contaminated with glyphosate. Moreover, due to the intensive use of glyphosate it was frequently detected in water, rain and air. Chang and coworkers [2] detected glyphosate concentrations in air and rain up to 2.5 μg/L in agricultural areas in Mississippi and Iowa. In Europe GM soybean for food and feed was admitted in 1996. All animals and humans eating this soy chronically incorporate unknown amounts of this herbicide”.

So, as I understand it, GMO crops are “Roundup ready”, which means they can be sprayed with the herbicide Glyphosate, contained in Monsantos “Roundup” without ill effect. Glyphosate will kill weeds and any other crops which are not genetically engineered to be resistant to it.
So, if only GMO crops can survive spraying with Glyphosate, and these crops retain a significant amount of this toxic chemical after spraying, then this study is very much about GMOs.  Have I got that right?

You're still conflating GMOs with herbicides.  Fact is, Roundup was used in the 1970s over 20 years before Monsanto started distributing GMO seeds to resist Roundup.

The actual study is free online:

Krüger, M., et al. "Detection of Glyphosate Residues in Animals and Humans." J Environ Anal Toxicol 4.210 (2014): 2161-0525.

Check for yourself.  The cows were not fed GMOs and the study has nothing to do with GMOs.  GMOs would actually reduce this risk.

Natural News writers are just idiots who can't read and comprehend even the most basic aspects of the study.

The are Roundup ready because Roundup does not kill them.  Thus lighter application of Roundup is possible with these crops--thus less overall herbicide use.

Glyphosate is almost universally used.  You local authority probably uses it in parks and sports fields near you.  Those with GMO crops use lesser volumes.

It would be correct to say organic foods would not have glyphosate on them other than by drift.  But GMOs will probably tend to have less on them than non-GMO non-organic food.

    According to Forbes,
    http://www.forbes.com/sites/bethhoffman … -not-less/
an increase in the planting of GMO crops did occur in tandem with increase in pesticide use -- but not by Monsanto's design. It was because herbicide use naturally lead to evolution of herbicide-resistant superweeds that stick up their middle finger at glyphosate.  That actually would have occurred regardless of whether or not the crops were GMO. Given that glyphosates aren't as effective anymore, it's probably a moot point that a country is banning them.
