I just signed up (and haven't heard back yet -- no surprise there) but was actually looking forward to writing some articles that would fit well with an ebay module

I know most people get money from adsense but I figured over time 20-30 percent from ebay would be peachy.

just wondering if this is going to really hurt people here

    thanks

I've had modest success with eBay but its far from my biggest earner. Its highly inconvenient though because I often add ebay capsule to keep a hub fresh with new content.

I just blogged about the ebay hubpage change - people do have options - but I guess it will take  few days for the shock to wear off for some. Certainly some affiliates will have their businesses badly effected by this change (which includes blogger blogs and squidoo not just Hubpages)

I didn't sign up with it, so it won't affect me at all.  Hopefully, Amazon won't do the same thing, though.

I doubt it, Amazon makes a lot of money from affiliates.

I will actually lose a lot--I have quite a bit from ebay ads-as coin people love to check the ads at some of my hubs instead of trying the search thru ebay.

I hope that hub pages and ebay partner network can work this out--it floors me because they have made money from it--why would they take it away?

I feel terrible for those who earn a lot from eBay. I know there are a few top earners on here that do earn a lot from their affiliate program.

I am very thankful that I was never accepted. I'd be sooooo upset if I had spent all sorts of time writing hubs around collectible items that can only be found on eBay.

I hope this never happens with Amazon!

Lissieposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Girly - don't hope - plan. It may well happen with Amazon -they have already closed their program to several states because of Sales tax issues. Any affiliate can change the rules on you at any time you need to diversify

my-success-guru/kmackey - could you take the chat elsewhere - or at least start your own thread - this thread acutally has serious issues for many hubbers

That is very good advice, definitely. I live in New England, so I wouldn't be shocked if my state enacted the new sales tax legislation next session.

Thankfully, whenever I write hubs that are aimed to sell amazon products, I also keep in mind CPC so I won't be completely ruined. I make about 85% of my online earnings from adsense (not very diversified lol) and amazon accounts for the rest, which is a nice little bonus that historically, will cover my share of a cell phone payment. big_smile The way I see it, there are plenty of products to write about that have a higher CPC...just takes a little more research, but I'm glad that I've done that!

There's only one hub of mine this affects, and that will have to be redone, but I didn't get any income off it anyway. I'm not overly upset.
