How can I improve this.

    http://hubpages.com/style/Bioplast-body … -jewellery

It's the shortest of all my hubs, and even though I posted one of my pieces on it, I don't sell, so it's not self-promotional.

Any idea of what I can add to it?

I'd add a couple more photos. Also, my opinion is you should have a photo up at the very top of the page before the first text capsule. Do you know how to make the photo smaller by moving it to the right and up beside text? I'd have a full sized photo up top, and then have smaller photos, at least one, to the right at the side of your second text capsule.

Thanks. Yes I can do artwork. Let me see what I have.

I don't normally advocate a full-width photo at the top of a Hub, but in this case I think it's appropriate.   The Hub is all about the product and why it's preferable to other alternatives so a "hero shot" makes sense.

Frankly, I would not say this is your daughter's piece.  I would simply link to the place where people can buy it as the Source, and say something like "A belly ring made from bioplast".

One more photo would be a good idea.

A few more thoughts - your title is far too long.   I found the content very interesting because I have metal allergies, so I'm thinking that a title which attracted people like me could work better, e.g. "Bioplast: Safe Body Piercings for Metal Allergies"?

For your paragraph headings, think of what people would be searching for on Google. Your current headings don't really invite me to read on.   I looked at auto-complete on Google and I got "Is Bioplast safe for new piercings?"   That should be a heading for one of your paragraphs.

Have you noticed that on the niche sites, HubPages editors are now using a Callout capsule for each heading, instead of using the standard text capsule heading. I suggest you adopt that practice.

Ooops. Excellent advice. What ia a call out capsule?

Marisa, I have looked for a call out capsule, but cannot see one. How do I access them?

If you look at the list of available capsules on the right hand side, you'll see there are "core" capsules and "Supplementary" capsules.  The Callout capsule is the last one under Supplementary.

You simply put the title in the callout capsule, and leave the heading of the text capsule blank.

I will have another look but I could not find anything called a call out cspsule under supplementary capsule.

            Callout is all one word.

You can also try hovering your cursor down the left hand side of the Hub and clicking "Insert Capsule".   Callout is the last one on the list.

                Good!

If you take a look at some of my Hubs which went through HubPro, you'll see the editor changed all my main headings into Callout capsules (if you select Health and Beauty on my profile then look for the ones that are on Bellatory, those are the ones that were edited).

I found it irritating at first but I guess I've got used to it now.  And I figure, if I use them, then it's more likely my Hubs will be picked to move to the niche sites (which is definitely where the money is).

Note that the Callout capsule does have a nice feature in that you can add some additional text, you can use that as a sub-title.

Will do. smile Funny I haven't seen it used on any of my pro edits or the ones that have been moved to the niche sites.

Marisa, one thing. Where can I find a list of the different niche sites that tell what kind of articles they take?

I've searched my behind off. I'll have to email hp and see if I can get a list. Good hub to write. smile

I did find a forum post which gave a list of the sites and what they were each about BUT not by name - and then I found a Hub in the Learning Center which listed the names of all the sites, but no indication what they included (and it's not always easy to tell from those weird names).

I couldn't find a list anywhere which lists all the sites by name and then describes what each one covers.

I did the same search. I've written to them to ask them for clarification. If not, I'm going to have to sit down with that list and write out which categories they fulfill. sad

Thanks for the help, and congrats on winning. You really have been incredibly helpful through the years. smile

By the way, who is  amazones.com? Just received an edit from them. Very good edit, but don't recognize the email address.

Thanks! If I spent less time helping and more time writing, I'd be a lot richer. I just find it  hard to do solitary work for any length of time.

Amazones.com sent me to a scam website

    Hi everybody,

I've updated the piece. Something about it still doesn't feel right. HP also says that there is a blurry photo, but I can't figure out which one it is.

    Your comments, please. Thanks. smile

Marisa Wrightposted 7 years agoin reply to this

I'm positive you had another photo (not the blurry tree one) - didn't you say your daughter made them?  I do think it needs another photo and it would not be self-promotional to include it, you're misunderstanding that rule.  Just state where the item can be purchased from, you don't have to disclose your relationship.

Okay, I'll put it back.  I thought self-promotion meant advertising or marketing anything you have.

        1. Marisa Wright profile image86
Marisa Wrightposted 7 years agoin reply to this

Self-promotional means linking to a site or product that isn't useful to the reader, for the sole purpose of promoting yourself.

So, for instance, I often link to my dance websites from my dance Hubs, because I'll often have an article about the same topic on my website.  So I can link to that article, which makes it perfectly acceptable.   If I just linked to the front page of the site, they probably wouldn't accept it.

The blurry picture is the one with the tree ear cuff.

I think the sub-titles in the callout capsules are too long, keep them to two lines max

Marisa, I think this is the most difficult hub I've ever done because it's a little known field and there is so little info on it. So can you check it for me now. I'm happier with it now. smile But I still think it can be tweeked.
