   Secessionists formally launch quest for California's independence
   Various groups have made noise about California forming its own country in the wake of Trump's election this month, most prominently Silicon Valley financier Shervin Pishevar. But similar proposals have dotted the state's political landscape for years. Yes California has tried and failed previously, and Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper was not able to get a proposal to split California into six states onto the 2016 ballot.

   First, Texas wanted to leave and now it's California. I guess Texas would have started their proposal up if Hillary had won...?

         Are you sure?  The promoters insist Ca is big enough to be self-sustaining.  They only import things like half their crude oil, most of their fresh water, half their electricity and all their defense - surely they can take care of themselves.  Might have to build a few nuke plants, upsetting the greenies there, but what's a dozen new power plants to a liberal state concerned about the environment?

            I am not for breaking up the Union, this idea of secession should have been settled 150 years ago.
            
            As for self sustaining those of Texas said the same at Obama's election, IMO, setting the stage for Balkanization of this country is not what I want to see. Once it begins where does it end? Counties splitting off from states, for example.

                              California is blowing smoke.  They aren't going to do it. 
                              It is just a bunch of noise... a peaceful protest.

   Once liberals finally work through the shock and awe of their incredible presidential loss , they will enter into the acceptance stage of their collective failure at the polls . Then they will all quiet down ,    Secession ,  I don't really see any Californians  willing to fight a civil war !  lets see , there's  Clint Eastwood ,  .........and these's  .....well there's Clint , .......did he actually SAY he would fight ?

            I can't eliminate that possibility, but I don't have a lot of confidence. The brouhaha he stirred up with his needlessly controversial staff appointment reinforces that. I am not from Missouri, but all the same I say 'Show Me'.
            
            With someone with a record like his, the burden of proof is on him to show me he is not the ogre we all suspect him to be.
