I have a personal blog, and I was wondering if it's a good idea to write a post where I add reference links to my hubpages articles? Is it a good SEO practice or a bad idea? thanks

Basically a good backlink comes from a reputable site. So it depends on how reputable your blog is as to whether it's good SEO to link from there to an article on HP. Natural backlinks are considered good for SEO.

So basically what I'm saying is that I don't do it because it seems like bad practice to me.

Yes!! You are right!! Right now user experience is everything in 2021. Natural linking works better than promotional.

It's good SEO, but HP will come after you with a hatchet.

Edit: Oops, still on first cup of coffee and I read your Title and OP backwards.

    Correction:

HP loves you when you have links going FROM your blog TO your hubs.
HP shoots you when you have links going TO your blog FROM your hubs.

    Time for that second cup.

Is it true that linking to our blog from our hubs is not a good practice? How will it affect my traffic?

        It's not permitted at all.

Is it? Meanwhile, I have read in some articles that we will be able to add links to the content we write once we gain a certain hub score. Could you please clarify this? If it's not allowed, is there any other way by which I can use HubPages to promote my blog site?

No, you cannot self-promote at HubPages, whatever your hub score.

Edit: by the way, your SEO article will fail QAP. You have an Amazon link in the very first sentence and it is too short. Additionally, there are a zillion articles on this topic.

I actually added that link to check whether hyperlinking is allowed in HubPages as I am new to this platform. So, only no-follow links are allowed, right?

Yes...HP will never allow you to add any backlinks in your hubs that direct to your personal blog/webiste...no matter how much that content can contribute to your article. They do not want you to self-promote yourself in any way using your HP articles. In fact, the new format doesn't even show an author bio. People reading your hubs on the niche' sites have no idea who you as an author are. Your photo and author profile are nonexistent as is the ability for your readers to now comment. At least when people could see your author profile page, they could access your other content (your blog, email etc.)...that is no longer the case sadly.

Thanks a lot for the info. The platform is solely intended to showcase our writing skills, not for marketing. Got it.

It might be tolerated if done VERY sparingly. You also need to have very strong justification of why the link would be beneficial to your hub.

Hubpages is not going to care if you link to hubs from wherever you can that is not illegal or misleading.  Go for it.

So, will our hub points get affected?

I've linked back to some of my other content in my personal blog I felt was relative and they've nipped them every single time. However, any other person's site with comparable content is generally allowed to stay as long as it's credible. They really don't want you self-promoting in any way.

So, we're not allowed to link directly to our own hubs but linking to any other author's content is allowed, right?

You can link *between* hubs as long as they are on the network sites. Never link back to one on hubpages.com.

You can link to your hubs *from outside* of hubpages. Such as social media or your own blog/site.

You cannot link from your hubs *to* your blog/site as that is self-promotion. The only links you should add are to your image source, to any other relevant articles, and to any non-commercial references.

Oh gosh I read the wrong thing too! Yeah. HP wouldn't bother at all. I have an entire section on my blog linking to HP. It doesn't affect SEO too much too, in my case at least.

How do you know it doesn't affect SEO? And is it providing any benefit?
