Can an employer dictate the political beliefs of their employees?
As mentioned in my Rage Slaves hub, I had an employer who told us where we should bank or shop (or, more to the point, not bank or shop), which words we could use (Freedom fries, for instance), and who constantly inundated us with his political beliefs via emails and other methods. Could those of us who found that behavior repellent have had a case against him? Thank you.
Now this is only my opinion and I'm not an attorney!!
Are you looking for a reason to take legal action against your employer?
Let me just say this. It can get very expensive to get an attorney to take on a case like this. There has to be something in it for them! If they don't see a payday, they will talk you out of it.
It sounds like you don't like working there, why don't you just leave? Just move on to bigger greener pasture. Life's too short to live with that kind of pressure.
Just my opinion
Jeff
That's completely inappropriate. An employer has no more right to influence his workers' political opinions than a random person on the street carrying a sign that says "The end is neigh!"
If serving "freedom fries" is part of the job description, I dare say that you could find a similar position elsewhere and just quit your current job working for the warmongering neo-con douche.
Work for a Ron Paul supporter instead! ;-)

Why are employers asking such stupid questions in there Job Applications and generally requiring volumes of information for a $8 an hour job?
