   Absolutely, Seraphine.
   
   Politics is defined as 'the art or science of government', and derives from the Greek 'polites', meaning 'citizen'. So if you are interested in being a good citizen - which every Christian should - you can be involved in politics.
   
   It was God who institued civil authority in Genesis chapter 9, so why leave that kind of power to Satan?
   
   In Britain in the late 18th Century a young politican called William Wilberforce (1759-1833) pondered over this very question when he became a Christian and considered leaving politics. Instead, he was persuaded by Christian friends that he could achieve more good for God by remaining in parliament, so he did. As a result, he fought tirelessly for the rest of his life for the abolition of slavery in the British Empire; first introducing a bill against it in 1791.
   
   He eventually achieved the abolition of the Slave Trade in 1807, and only shortly before his death in 1833, did he see Slavery itself abolished.
   
   There are many more examples of Christians who made a tremenous difference by being involved in politics and who helped create many of the freedoms we enjoy today. The vast majority of America's Founding Fathers were Christians, and even the few who were not were sympathetic to Christianity's moral values.
   
   On the other hand, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse-Tung were not Christians, so consider; who would you rather live under?

   Religion was Politics back in the days when  forms of government  were not yet defined. Religion is the incipient  form of politics born out of the need to govern people who could only be ruled by using fear and mysticism. Societies could not be managed using reasoning and voting such as modern day society, therefore someone had to show up and say that if you don't comply, then a "greater force" (feel free to give it whatever name representative of whichever religion) will reach down from the sky and smack you upside the head.
   Nowadays, I would like to believe that Religion and Politics are individually well defined and even though unfortunately they do intersect  on certain plains, we are all part of society and we SHOULD take part in politics, get involved in the decisions regarding the people who govern us. No matter what religion you support or are part of, if that is how you could make a difference for good by  getting involved in politics then  do it.

   Absolutely!  Christians have allowed themselves to be given a bad rap by either being too soft or too rigid and "not wanting to get involved.."  God created the heavens and the earth and expects mankind (women too) to take care of it and BE INVOLVED!

   Definitely,
   We must stand up for what we believe.  But, at the same time we can't forget about God's sovereignty.  Whoever is elected President is not outside God's control.  Therefore, we have an obligation to respect the authority put above because it is God who puts it above us.  The only time we should go against the grain is when our Biblical based beliefs on what is right and wrong is challenged.  Then we must stand, against the grain.  Striving side by side.
