   How much have friends influenced in screwing up your academics...
   
   How much of impact have friends made in your life in terms of good and bad.  How do you distinguish a good friend from a bad friend.

   I am so glad that you asked this question.Well i alwayz thought it was because of my college friends that i screwed my life.But now i have realised that i was so wrong.See it is an individual that makes decision though friends do influence but in the end it is ourselves only who calls the shot and we are only responsible.And friends have made a lot of impact in my life and honestly offlate the impact has been good.
   
   And my friend i dont think there is any sure shot method to distinguish a good and a bad friend.because a person who is good to you may not be good to others and vice versa.But yea choose such friends who respects your principles and who do not try to change you as a person.After all friends is a person who accepts us for what we are.

   A person can have good intentions while being a good or bad friend. Friends are only good or bad based on how you judge them. Often times people will not look out for you as much as you expect them to, so you might consider them a bad friend. It is important to have your own idea of what a friend is, and choose accordingly. It has often been said that you attract friends who act like you. This may not always be true but it often turns out this way. Those who have issues with self-esteem often make friends with similar people. One may try to act superior while the other acts inferior. In reality they are the same because they both fail to see others on an equal level.
   
   Based on this, I would say a good friend supports you in achieving what you want to achieve while you help them achieve as well. A good friend is someone who is on the same level as you.

   I haven't really surrounded myself with bad influences during my lifetime. I have had friends that have made poor choices in their lives that I have chosen not to replicate, but I can honestly say that no one has ever influenced me negatively.
   
   As far as academics, my husband and I started dating when we were 17. It was through his positive influence (he's a PhD) that I began to take my studies seriously and that I came to understand and appreciate the value of a good education. I earned my college degree and have enjoyed an upwardly mobile career that would not otherwise have been possible, through his influence and support.

   My friends and I were all pretty bad in school, but I would like to think that I would have been bad with or without my friends. They never pressured me to do anything I didn't want to. And if I said, no I have to go to class or I might fail, they would support me. So the moral of the story is that you make your own choices good or bad. No one is going to hold a gun to your head and force you to chose beer over studying.
