i do not believe in God. I believe that there is a great power out there responsible for the breath of life we know as a soul and that it is divided between it as a god and a goddess.
i believe that this being has both light and darkness, cruelty and love. i do not believe in a devil, never have. nor do i believe in heaven or hell. i believe in each life we live we learn a new lesson we must learn to become a part of this great being once more. that we must each walk all paths before we can understand anything.
Wow. That is a huge question.
I don't think anyone can answer that for you. You have to go find out for yourself - don't settle for someone else's answer because you don't feel like figuring it out or it seems scary.
Deciding for yourself who God is will affect your entire life, so don't put off making that decision.
My opinion of which I am 98% confident (allowing for the huge possibility that I'm wrong and the Universe is on the back of a large turtle) is that God is our Father. He loves us so much that that He sent Jesus to pay for our sins. He is not the white bearded guy on the throne, He is not the guy waiting to slam us for doing wrong - because He's already paid for our screw ups through His Son. He just wants to us love us unconditionally. And He already does - we just need to accept His love. That's who I think God is.
Peace
I perceive God to be a supernatural force that is all and is above all. I don't think that we can understand this kind of power with our tiny minds, as smart as we think we are. Many religions believe in something higher than ourselves, in a spiritual way. I think that our ultimate prize is in heaven (wherever that is), and that we shouldn't seek possessions or riches because of our own greed. I think God put us here to learn and discover life and the universe, but He keeps us from understanding things that might get us into trouble, such as His ultimate power. Some people are evil and cannot find it in their mind and hearts to let what is be and to follow the divine will of the Lord, in other words trust God and your life will be a life worth living and He will take care of you.
In my church we believe in love God and love people. From the answers I've seen in this HUB you will never see heaven. There is, only one alternative.
It is really simple. Yes God does love you, however unless you are baptized and believe that the Son of man died on the cross for your sins and was resurrected to join our father in heaven, you will never make it to heaven. Read the bible, not some ones interpretation. All of you have the holy spirit in you. Pray to your heavenly father and ask him. Jesus said in the book of Mathew, "Ask and you shall receive".
My suggestion is to read 1st John '1 JOHN' in the new testament of the bible. Not the Gospel of John. In '1 JOHN' the Apostle John gives you some information about all that you ask. It is 3 and a 1/3 pages long. Remember also that John is speaking to Jews not like you or me. The Jews did not believe that Jesus was the Christ the son of God. Back then you could lose your head.
See not a cosmic mist or supernatural.
Cowboy
I see God as being more of a concept than a person. When I look at the spectacular beauty of nature, when I look into the eyes of my dog, I see God (and you know what God spelled backwards is!).
In all the beauty of this world, I see God, and in the ugly too, because you can't have good without bad, it's the nature of the universe.
The creator is so big and mighty I can't perceive him , nor can anyone else really with the human mind, for it would explode from the magnitude of the thought power you'd need to envision the creator. Only in his presence can you see and hear and not be harmed.

God is one who continues loving us unfailingly and is always there for us when we need him. Sadly we only understand him when he gives what we ask from him and not trying to understand this fact that he gives us what is right and beneficial to us.
My first hub happens to be a response to your question.

HE IS KIND AND GENTLE BUT ONE DAY HE IS GOING TO LET THEM HAVE IT FOR BEING LIARS(CHURCH) FOR BEING JUST SO CRUEL TO HIS PEOPLE TAKING BY FORCE,(STATE) FOR HAVING THEM IGNORANT AND THE PEOPLE TOO WILL GET IT FOR BEING STUPID ENOUGH TO SWALLOW THE BULL SHOVE TO THEM, (MEDIA) OH WELL......
To be a bit of an ass, but to make a point, I ask you in return:
which god?
He permeates His creation and transcends it too. He is Eternal and He is not subject to the physical laws of the world. He is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent. There is no place where He is not. In one way we can term God as Love(Pure and Selfless).

Why is it that some people believe that they will remain even whence their physical bodies are gone? Does science back this up? Does scripture?

With so many people believing in their own version of what [God] is or isn't; what [He] should should not represent, the question comes to mind if the average person could be or was [God]: What would your ten commandments be?How would you deal with criminals?Would you allow your olnly child to die...

Where is Heaven or Hell actually located in a turning Universe? When Heaven or hell is spoken of there is the indication of direction, up or down. This becomes complicated in a turning and expanding Universe.

There is no afterlife, I believe that when we die that is it, and to be honest we are all in the same boat, so it doesn't bother me at all. The easter bunny would be a much more credible idea than a 'soul' floating up to an eternal world where everything is perfect forever. Is the thought that there...

Is hell real to you? If so, what do you think it will be like?I wrote a little about what I thought hell might be like (http://hubpages.com/hub/Afraid-of-the-Dark) but wondered what others would have to offer. Maybe you don't believe in hell and want to share what you believe happens...
