Can The Asbestos Roofing Common In Many Places In Still Be Capable Of Causing Cancer?

Should Such Asbestos Roofing Be Removed Bearing In Mind Those Living In Such Houses Are Very Poor? Is It Safe To Harvest Rain Water From Asbestos Roofs?

Yes Asbestos is still capable of causing cancer.  It is not safe to harvest rain water from an Asbestos Roof.  I would recommend having the roof replaced by a reliable company who is familiar with the proper building codes and safe removal practices.  One company I would recommend would be www.cmrconstruction.com .  Hope this helps.

While asbestos poses an environmental concern in any form, it is most hazardous when it is disturbed, causing  the particles containing the small, barbed fibers to be released into the air. Should you choose to have the material removed, you must hire a licensed asbestos abatement service.
I would not discourage the collection of rainwater on any roof surface as long as the water is utilized for non-potable use such as landscaping and car washing.  The danger of cancer causing particles being inhaled in minimal in the presence of water.  Not trying to downplay the hazards of exposure to asbestos, keep in mind that asbestos does occur naturally in the environment.

Asbestos is used in a lot of places. No I don't recommend consuming too much but will it cause cancer definitely? Who knows.
