Besides medication, what tips would you suggest to a person with symptoms of depression? I wrote a h
Managing stress is a solution of any depression,If you know how to manage your stress due to so much works, too much thinking, etc.Depression is another cause of stress.
Sunshine is an important factor in your mental as well as physical well being; just getting out in the fresh air and sunshine can work wonders.
I strongly believe, COMMUNICATION is the best medication as medication does not resolve issues a person might have, it simply suppresses them. Talking resolves issues and in my opinion, talking to the one you have issues with would be the best resolution. Whether the issue is related to emotional, social, education, employment, or financial, these people, family, friend(s) school teachers, colleagues, mediator’s, councillor’s have the ability to resolve your issues. Through observation of peoples behaviours mental health is rapidly climbing and a doctor can only prescribe two things, medication, and a counsellor, psychologist or psychiatrist. While there are so many people ready to help in a moments notice, only a few can and will offer without a fee! They are the people closest to you, the ones that love you the most. Be a friend to yourself; learn to ask yourself questions, as many relate to principals, values, morals, and beliefs. Attempt to resolve issues by looking through the eyes of your offender; find the causes and solutions.
I hope this will help you.
I suffered from serious postnatal depression a number of years ago and was given medication for this, which helped - a lot!!
I also forced myself to do a lot of exercise and socialised, this helped greatly too.
I have always believed that a good friend is one of the best cures for helping with depression. Someone that you can tell all your concerns. They listen and they can help you through anything. Excercise is also a great cure it gets you invigorated and makes you feel better about yourself.
Thank you all for answereing the question. Have a Happy Holiday!!
I think simplifying our lives is a great step towards making it happier. So many people try to do too many things, aquire to many things, and be all things. When we do we set ourselves up for failure which piles up and becomes depression. Shoot for a few good friends, just enough stuff and not to many things that are unreachable.
First step: Acknowledge it and get in action! Now....
1.Excercise to create endorphins, the 'feel good' chemical.
2.Stay involved & busy in as much as you can without becoming overly committed.
3. Find a trustworthy friend or professional to share with, someone who can encourage & support you, and best of all, to listen.
4. Get plenty of rest. Some downtime is important.
5. Pamper yourself.
Hope this helps!
Do some kind of exercise every single day. That is the #1 thing that you can do. Write, draw, listen to music. These things are very hard to remember to do when you are depressed, but you must. Get outside and get some sun.
Talk to a therapist. But unless you are under 18, do NOT talk to normal people about it. They will eventually turn away and make you feel MUCH worse. Also avoid letting it show on your face or in your body. "Fake it til you make it." Smile and sometimes that will tell your body you're happy, and you'll start to feel that way. Don't EVER let a boss, teacher, coworker, or stranger know that you feel depressed. Ever see a sick fish in an aquarium? 'Nuff said.
Read humor, watch comedy routines, and find ways to make yourself laugh. spend time with animals or plants.

Does anyone think there is anyway to solve depression, without medication??I am definitely in a slump, and really need to get out of it. But I need help. Anti-depressants are always there, just wanted to explore a little before I made that decision.
