   You can get decent clothes in places like Goodwill or Salvation Army. You just have to look through the stuff they have.

   Go to the thrift stores like the salvation army and good will.
   It not what you wear but how you wear it. You can find really
   nice things at these places it just a matter of how you put them together.

   I just wanted to follow up on what these two have said.  There are a small number of options.   You can definitely look into the Salvation Army.  Goodwill has gotten pretty expensive, with prices having doubled in the last few years.  There are also clothing banks in most cities that will give you clothing.   Job and Family Resources will sometimes issue clothing vouchers if you need them for work clothing.  Also, you could consider going to garage sales, we're just getting into garage sale season.

   I think your wife should understand but she is not. So you must buy some thing like other cloths but you can give promise that after few months you will give him that.

   Have had the same problem, had been out of work for a while, and when going back to the workplace, didn't have anything suitable! Work clothes are really expensive.
   
   If you can stretch, a couple of pieces will definitely smarten up what she has now, until she has some spare money to buy some more stuff.
   
   I'd say eBay is a great place to look, especially for vintage designer pieces, since they're well made and classic. Also try really cheap high street stores such as H&M for a classic white shirt, a black waist belt, a tailored skirt that she can mix and match with clothes she's got. If all else, stretch to a pair of work shoes and a work bag.
   
   If she can sew or know anyone else who can alter things, tailor trousers she owns, or trim an occasion dress she no longer wears shorter to wear for work. I'm a great believer in adapting clothes to make them work for different occasions. She'll definitely have something that she probably doesn't wear as much, but can make it work.

   I would suggest going to a few thrift stores or a low cost place to get a few starter pieces.  It might be a bit of a pinch on your wallet now but it you can manage it will give her a few mix and match pieces.  I always like to keep a few of the basics around because it gives you the opportunity for more outfits.  I'm not sure what they have where you guys live, but back in the area where i'm from there are a few stores that have a whatever you can fit in the bag is a certain price deal.  The quality may not always be the best but if you dig a little at places like that you can find a steal sometimes.

   I agree with trying to pick up a few basic pieces from a second hand shop which she can mix and match with her own clothes until you can afford to buy her new ones. Another idea is to see if you can afford to buy her one discount store item per month, that way within a few months she'll have some new pieces to mix and match with - Be sure to buy basic colours that she can mix and match together - that's the secret to feeling like you have many different outfits!  Also, ask the other women in your family if they have any suitable work attire for her that they no longer wear.  Swapping clothes between women of similar sizes is a great way to add to your wardrobe without having to spend anything!
