My cat is unable to walk in a straight line and his head in moving from side to side uncontrollably.
About 5 weeks ago my cat was involved in a fight, when another cat got into his yard. We took him to the vet where they gave him antibiotics and pain relief.
We have noticed this evening that when he walks, he walks as though he is drunk and he is unable to keep his head steady. When he tries to lick his front paw he looses his balance.
He is still eating. Does not appear to be in any pain and purrs when you pick him up and pat him.
It's possible that the sypmtoms you describe are unrelated to the fight from 5 weeks ago...perhaps something else has happened to him since then?
If it is related, the symptoms sound like they have affected the cat's ability to balance, which may be indicative of an inner-ear problem. Possibly he was injured deeper in the ear during the fight than the initial inspection indicated, and an infection has subsequently developed - htough if this was the case, you'd probably notice some sort of discharge from the ear/s. It's possible that the antibiotics administered by the vet initially are not of the appropriate kind to deal with ths subsequent infection - if in fact this is what has happened.
Good luck!
he could have Vestibular Disease, which is sometimes caused by drug toxicity. poor little guy. I would stop giving him antibiotics and see if that helps.
if it was my kitty, I certainly would be concerned. I would probably call the vet and explain the situation. See if they would know what could be the cause. Sounds pretty serious. Good luck. Hope you find out the cause and share it with us.

Writing - in a straight line, or all over the place?I've written a couple of attempts at novels - one which followed all in a straight line...I knew where I needed to go, and mostly how I get there. The one I'm writing now, is jumping about all over the place.....I know kind of where it...

Any tips on how to walk 24 hours straight?I participate in the American Cancer society's fundraiser Relay for Life every year, and this year I want to bump up my donations by walking for the entire 24-hour event. I have heard it's been done before but I am certainly nervous I won't be able to...
