Is being in a library or a room surrounded by books a place of comfort for you?
Yes, I just love books, we have a wall of books in our living room. I just love to look at them and they have all been read, some more then others.
if you love to read, like a chef loves to cook...a room of books gives comfort
I love the library experience and feel extremely comfortable in a room full of books. Throw in some some real wood; and, I'm moving in. I get a sense of calm and a sense of my own being in the grand scheme of things.
I have bookshelves of various sizes in every room of our house except the bathrooms (which I have considered!). Books are my comfort! I love books!
Personally, yes any form of Library (especially the really old ones) make me feel comforted. All the wonderful words and wonderful worlds those words bring to life. It is as if you are in a place where you can go anywhere, anytime period and yet you never have to leave your seat. The quietness of the library also invites me by allowing time to meditate on what we are reading and let it fully sink in without the distraction of the outside world and all of its noises.
Oh, yes. Until I was in my early teens, I didn't have many moments of happiness outside of libraries. As a friendless little boy, books allowed me to play with Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. Sometimes a lovely young lady named Nancy Drew would invite me to solve mysteries with her. On other days, I would go exploring with Samwise Gamgee, Meriadoc Brandybuck, Peregrin Took, or Frodo and Biblo Baggins.
Nowadays, it isn't the location that matters, or even the physical form of books. Clutching a Kindle or an iPad is also comforting. It's the travel to other worlds and other lives that draws me to libraries and bookstores.
Travel without packing or jet lag. :-)
You betcha. I've got books galore at my house...and I always seem to gravitate to bookstores or library sales to find more books...in addition to places like Amazon online.
Yeah. It would even make me feel happy. Being in a bookshop or library for hours is not a problem at all.
This is funny! I am a librarian, so yes, I like being surrounded by books. One of the saddest days of my life was when our corporation decided to close our "brick and mortar" library and make the collection virtual. We were put into cubicles and lost not only the hard copy collection, but also the face-to-face give and take with fellow employees.
That said, I have also embraced technology. I have a Kindle and enjoy that experience as well. Digital books allow me to take my library with me.
Not necessarily. I find solace in being among the books when I am in the exploring mode. After I find items that I want to read then sitting down in the library or in a Barnes & Noble is a bit distracting to me because I begin to look around and wonder what else is up there on those shelves that I have not yet discovered. I then lose focus on the items that I wanted to read. Seems odd I guess but I have noticed it. Thanks. WB
I like going to the library because I can find a lot of interesting things there.
As for the comfort, I'd rather spend time outside- on the beach or in the park or at home with a good company.

I've seen a few forum threads/questions about reading lately - asking what types of books you like to read, or how many you've read in the past year, etc....but none have simply asked: what book are you reading right now? So c'mon, bookworms, tell us what you got. I'll start:Currently: A...

What books did you read as a child between the ages of ten and fifteen?I know there are probably a few Hubbers who were born before 1950, and was wondering what books they read as kids. I'm thinking about a Hub along these lines highlighting some I read and still remember names and titles, even...
