   Did Jesus and the Apostles Pay Tithes?
   
   Titihing, the big issue in churches today; did the first century church members pay tithes, what scriotues support your view? Is tithing scriptural for today? I am not asking is it right to support your church financially; I am asking about the "Required" 10% of your gross which is actually about 22% of your net.

   Tithing as spelled out in the Old Testament?  No. 
   Tithing is based on the increase in the produce of the land and animals, to be paid only to the tribe of Levi whose duties were to the temple. Numbers 18:24-28, Deut. 14:22-29, Nehemiah 12:44
   Since Jesus wasn't a farmer he did not pay those tithes.  That is not to say that the Pharisees might have twisted the meaning of tithing to try and collect from everyone, which in that case, then Jesus would have since He followed the law of the temple, at least until he turned the tables, literally.
   Jesus and the Apostles did however, give to the poor as evidenced by the gospel writings.

   Only land owners with livestock or produce tithed.  Money was never tithable and tithing hasn't occured since the temple was destroyed doing away with the Levitic Priesthood.  So nobody tithes today regardless of what lies the worldly christian organisations assert.

   All jews had to pay a tax called the fiscus judaicus - this was a tax levied on jews simply because they were jews - even children had to pay this tax and it was levied upon them long after the fall of the Roman Empire.
   
   They also had to pay tax for the upkeep of the temple at Jerusalem - after the temple was destroyed by the emperor Vespasian's forces in AD 70, however, this money was diverted to the Jupiter Capitolinus in Rome.
   
   Does this question's author: daledad8, support the view that people today should pay tithes? If so who would be liable?

   They paid dearly with their own blood. The exchange of money is a material matter. Paying your way in. The disciples accepted gratuities to continue the spreading of the Good News. The tithe is for the Temple. What has God need of cash? If Jesus is a son of God, what need had he of cash? True faith dictates trust in God to provide what we need. What need does any of us have for cash? Without cash, what would you then tithe?

   How could they tithe when they earned no money? Paul was the only one that I know of because he didn't want to be a financial burden, and what he didn't need, he gave to the church.

   Tithing under the Law was not a blanket 10 percent from any and every source of financial increase. Law by its nature is specific. The Law specifically defined the “tithe” and the process of “tithing.” It was to come from the land. It was the increase of fields, vineyards, trees, flocks, herds, and honey from beehives. (Lev. 27:30, 32; Deut. 12:17, 14:22, 23; 2 Chron. 31:5, 6; Neh. 10:37, 12:44, 13:5, 12)
   
   Unless Jesus had agricultural produce from the land, increase from fields, vineyards, orchards, flocks, herds, and beehives, which were designated by the Law to be tithed on, he would not have been tithing. Even if he gave 10 percent of his carpentry income or a tenth of his ministry offerings, it would not have been called the “tithe” according to the Law's definition. We know that he gave to the poor, but he would not have been focusing on a percentage. That would be irrelevant to the principle of freewill offerings and to the spirit of giving.

   only before the Resurrection of Christ because they were jews  under the law until the law was completely fulfilled at the resurrection of Christ when the new age started and all things then NEW.
