Does text in news feeds contribute, in the eyes of Google, to the number of words in each hub?
Or is it only the words in text capsules that count? What about text in alt box for images?
At hubpages, only the words in text capsules count. Google is not that concerned about your word count, but a news feed keeps the hub fresh which is very important in the eyes of google. It gives google feeling that the article is updated regularly.
Thank you for your answer to my question. I appreciate your input. It was surprising to hear that, in your opinion, Google does not care about word count. I thought Google looks upon the optimum content word count as between 250 and 600 words, in the text modules, alt picture and photo fields. Your reply was helpful and appreciated. Thank you again.
excellent question - I wish the answer was known to me. Perhaps another hubber can help us with this information.
If you are worried about the few words in a news feed or in photo capsules, then your Hubs must be too short!
No one really knows how many words Google wants. Nelle Hoxie, who earns over $2,000 a month with her Hubs, has done some experiments and she has found that Hubs over 800 words do much better than shorter Hubs. In fact, she is now writing Hubs of 1,000 to 1,500 words.
Other successful Hubbers believe that two Hubs of about 400 words each, linked to each other, can be just as successful as one single 800 word Hub.

Which word count figure is most reliable for the number of words per hub?The word count figure for my hubs in the new 'Edit-Need Some Goals' feature is different (higher) than the word count figure in 'Hub Metrics'. Why is this, and which is more accurate?

I am writing a piece now, that is currently 3000 words, and still rising; as things stand it appears that it will be around 4000 words. In the past I have written two part articles on HP and they tend not to fly, so I don't want to divide it in two. It would be okay to split it in two and move it...

On another thread, a Hubber suggested that if HubPages had a minimum word count, it would prevent some spammers.I know that a very low word count can get a Hub flagged as substandard, but perhaps it's set too low at the moment?

I know that the length of a good hub should between 800-1400 words, but where does it tell you how many words you have written?

I wish I could count the words on the individual text box.

what text actually counts towards your hub's word count? I know the words in the text capsule count, but how about rss feeds, news, links, polls, etc.? Is this text included in the word count?
