Do you think America is too afraid of offending people for it's own good?

in other words, do we go so far out of our way to try to be someone everyone likes, that we lose sight of what our country stands for?

Americans right now , almost collectively ,  are in  politcally correctness mode ,  like a teens first day at school.  Thats what happens when we forget or take for granted the facts of our standing in a world that envies our strengths  and  openness.

Oh dear, do you think it's just the USA?  The whole of Europe, and probably Australia and New Zealand, are trapped in this absurd, politically correct mode.  The policy makers and little do-gooder groups are all bending over backwards, changing the indigeous culture so not to offfend minorities, all with the backing of the thought police.  It's time we brought some sanity back into the world, if people migrate and don't like their new home, they need shut up and make the best of it, or go back from whence they came.

Yes, I think America is doing an injustice to the citizens by being politically correct. We have also put ourselves at risk in America due to our diversity and lack of policy for immigration. It is hard to appear to be a strong America when we have a President that goes to other countries apologising for things we have no reason to apologise for..Yes, America is too afraid of offending people for it's own good.

Absolutely..."political correctness" is rampantly out of control in this country and has been for years.  The concept of "diversity" is being pushed essentially as a broadening of the old civil rights concept and it is being pushed as something the USA needs to get in step with like the rest of the world.  Huh?  You mean countries like China, Korea, Brazil, Mexico...yes, they are highly sensitive to peoples needs....NOT!  There is absolutely nothing wrong with being nice to other people  and we should be in a practical sort of way.  But tip-toeing around on egg shells as a country for fear of offending someone is nuts!
