Should we(the people) create a investigating oversight committee for our politicians?
Should we "the people" create a oversight committee that will keep our politicians clean? Every politician accepts bribe and lobby money, so what can we really do to get our political system(politicians) to make progress? IT'S TIME FOR AN INTERVENTION!!! If our politicians weren't so busy fighting for corporations maybe they could actually get something done.
woulnt work not really if the commitee came up with a report that favored a Repuplican then the Democrats would scream it was fixed or slanted or what ever, and vice vesa if were reversed.
Id suggest. one. All phones in Officiall offices are constantly tapped. as are the cell phones of the Politicians and his staff.
two. video cams installed in each office.
all tapes Audio and video reviewed weekly by the FBI.
the politician and his staff are to wear location tracking ankle bracelets or be chipped. and are required to wear a recording device at all times.
if at any time and for any reason they fail to wear the recorders and the GPS trackers. they are immediately removed from office and general elections are held in his or her district.
third. all financial transactions and bank accouts of the politician, his family, friends and staff are kept under 24/7 surviellance. any irregularities in amounts, deposits, transfers and investments result in immediate dismissal and elections to replace him or her.
fourth. if at any time they fail to vote along the majority line of his or her constitutients he is removed from office by end of day and elections are held. to replace him.
a. failure to read bills before voting instant dismissal and five million dollar fine.
b. falure to publish entire bill before voting instant dismissal and two million dollar fine
Fifth. no public office holder can work for any corporation that contributed to his election nor work for any that benefited from bills he wrote or voted for. for a period of ten years after leaving office.
sixth. no public office holder may earn money from lobbying, speeches or any other activity that benefits from his public service for ten years after leaving office.
Seventh. at any point in his or her service his district or state may hold a no confidence vote and remove the public servant from office complete with a one million dollar fine for failing to uphold their duties. all other after service restrictions apply accept they may not earn money off their service for the entirety of their lives after being ousted.
anyway LOL just a few ideas I had bouncing around between my ears.
Theoretically, we have the three branches of government, Executive, Judicial, and Legislative that is suppose to be watch dogs of each other...that's in theory mind you. As far as I know, Congress is the only body authorized to carry out the impeachment process based on evidence provided through the justice department. If you had a so-called committe, then who would they answer to? The Office of the President is the highest office in the land. A committe would have to be made a portion of th Justice Department and classified as "non-elected". This, it seems, would give Justice undue power in the checks and balances system. I am not saying it is a bad idea, I just don't know how it could be structured into our government. Since the founding fathers proposed a states rights dominate union, then it would seem that something could be structure with a committe of state appointed watchdog but nothing so cumbersome as a 50 member committee. It would require some thought to keep it in check and accountable to someone? Not a bad idea but tough to implement! WB
mmm, interesting, who will watch the watchers then, another committee.

Current News - so if you are busy looking there, instead of here. You might want to have a look at the current news. Or maybe look the other way, and just not even consider what this president did, that certainly skirts the law. Sand can choke one if one swallows enough of...

AG Barr defied the House Committee invitation to appear. On the most basic level, I think he should have appeared. I think his absence will be the only message heard, but ...I can understand why he took this step. Democrat Representative Steven Cohen of Tennesee illustrated the mindset and purpose...

Do you contend that politics is a game and that the average politician whether Republican orDemocrat cares nothing at all about his/her constituents but only his/her self-aggrandizement, celebrity, and next career move?

With all of the political hidden agenda, we never truly know what politicians have our best interest in mind. Should all politicians be required to take lie detector tests before and during office?
