    Takes far less energy to always speak as honestly as you can.
    when you don't you have to keep tabs on who you were untruthful with, about what, when. And they tend to snowball into making up more and more stuff seeking to save face. Then you might actually start believing the stories you've been telling. before you know it you are lost and it truly is a long path to find your way back to where the story all started. How many apologies to how many people will have to be made. How much courage will you now have to have to rectify the damage your stories have caused.

    The purpose of telling the truth is so you can sleep at night with a clear conscience. Others might not know you lied... but you do. It's also living to be better than you were the day before.

    As tissuematter said, the less lying you do, the less needs to be remembered. It makes life so much easier. I lied compulsively when I was younger and it was a pain to remember it all.

    What is the purpose of lying? Life in truth can only be better than life in lies. Telling lies will have just as many ups and downs as telling the truth, so why not just live life honestly?
