Because all politicians have to swear an oath to many things they may not support. My uncle had to swear to an oath that included supporting abortion, but he did not support it. It was however the only position he could run for.
Politics attracts dirty people, those who want power to lord over others.
Because citizens allow the political authorities to operate in that manner. The majority of people are apathetic and uninformed, allowing corruption to proceed without hinderance and often not caring; so long as it doesn't have an immediate effect on their personal life, wealth, etc. People are usually either consciously or sub-consciously aware of corruption and dirty politics. The fact is, if their life continues smoothly and as usual, they're happy to ignore that corruption.
Where corruption can exist, it will exist, unless actively rooted out. People turn a blind eye, however the more uncomfortable corruption makes people's lives, the more willing they are to do something about it. Inversely, when a population becomes too complacent; corrupt groups in their governments can more easily play a 'dirty game.' I believe decades of being apathetic and complacent towards politics is finally coming back to bite us.
Because there are far too many dirty people involved in the process. Politics is an avenue to power which allows those who have no political interest in holding office to control and manipulate certain functions within our society driven by their own needs or greed. On that basis, there are no sacred cows when it comes to winning the office and controlling the switches. Obama becomes just that puppet to billionaire George Soros who has but one desire to destroy the American way and the capitalist process. The irony is that process has made him the money that he possess. Money is no longer his objection....power and control that deals with manipulation on a global scale are. To execute that process he must have people in high places in elected office to manipulate the government and ultimately undermine the democratic process. Politics are far more than dirty...they are downright dangerous these days. WB

Would the world be a better place without politics or vice versa? In my opinion, Politics is such a dirty game...it is plagued with corruption, impunity, abuse of office, injustice, nepotism, tribalism, racism...and so on. So would the world be a better place without it?

Time and again we have seen politicians from both parties going through the revolving doors of corruption in Washington – the most rat infested city imaginable. Do you believe your vote counts? The way I feel is that the futile effort only validates a fraudulent government and gives “credibility”...

Sparks of change in the Middle East make me wonder why U.S. people are so complacent about the economic crisis that deregulation of banking and investing caused the world. Why are they not holding there representatives in the Congress and Senate responsible and demanding jail time for those...
