How do you appeal unemployment ending

I was laid off on January 13, 2010 and my unemployment will end Dec. 11, 2010.  I spend 5-6 hours a day sometimes more looking for work.  Yesterday I was told I was over qualified for the job I interviewed for.  Why am I getting penalized for looking for work and interviewing.
    What do I do next?

You can't appeal it ending. Unemployment is supposed to help support you for an amount of time that is reasonable enough to find a job.

Andrea can you file for any federal extensions for your unemployment?  Keep looking for work.  If you are told you are overqualified, express your interest in the job and that you plan on staying with the company.

this might sound strange but you can down-play your experience so that you don't get called over-qualified. make your resume suit the job your looking for without over doing it.
