Counting calories is a meaningless concept.  Weight loss/management is all about the nutritional components of the calories you are consuming not the number. If you are looking to lose "weight" what you really want to lose is excess body fat.

The best way to lose body fat is by increasing the amount of protein in your diet.  If you are not incorporating protein with every meal then it's probably preventing you from achieving your goals.

Losing weight by counting calories is a chore, however, learning about the calories and what is in food is very useful. There are other variables to consider too, like any medical conditions you may have, and medication you take. I have just written a brand new Hub on this very topic. I would be delighted if you'd stop by to read it sometime.

    My regards,
    Kez:)

    Here are a few tips

    1. Don’t eat anything that is white. Name every single food that is white and chances are you shouldn’t be eating it: bread, pasta, crackers, most cereals, flour based products, white potatoes, white rice, and pasteurized dairy and cheese are all no-no’s during this time.

    2. Only drink water, NOTHING else!

    3. Don’t eat anything with the word wheat in the ingredients list.   This includes bread, pasta, crackers and cereal.  Many packaged snack foods also contain wheat so be sure to read the ingredients list carefully.

    Good Luck

The concept of calorie deficit allows developing an effective plan for losing body fat. The strategy is to combine calorie intake with burning calories, and yet have a deficit that will consequently result in weight loss.
