What is your biggest beef with the Bible?
I'm looking for beef specifically with the Bible. I'm not looking for a rant on church or how christianity is x y z, I want to know what you specifically don't like/agree with/understand about the Bible.
I really do not have a beef in general with the Bible. There are many who aided in the creation of the Bible. But if I had to chose an issue with the Bible it would be the amount of times it contradicts itself. But then again look how many times it has been re-written.
Love the Bible and do not really have a beef with it. If I did have one though it would be the gaps in history. We start with the beginning of mankind and the origin of the earth, but nothing about T-REX or about humanity on other continents etc. There just seems to be gaps in history and all is concentrated in just the small area of the Midde East. We know China had people dating to Moses etc as well as the Inca's in South America and such. That would be my principle beef.
It might be the red heifer. Of course, it could be the cattle on a thousand hills. Who knows really.
Most of the Old Testament law-based teachings are irrelevant for Christians because they have been replaced by Jesus' grace-based teachings which changed through expansion, modification or deletion many Old Testament laws
The Old Testament however remains a rich source of inspirational stories as well as a literary vault of spiritual and behavioral wisdom and guidance.
It is important to remember that although Jesus changed many Old Testament laws,His ministry was a fulfillment of Old Testament scripture and much of His ministry as a Jewish Rabbi consisted of delivering sermons based on Old Testament texts.
i don't like how everything in the bible can't be proven. it uses faith instead of facts to hold it's followers.nothing in the bible is straight forward so the interpretations vary greatly . the bible is not even the complete book. it was changed to suit the readers and many parts were omitted.
@yolanda I don't have a beef with the Bible, just curious what other peoples were
@sirdent good one, I didn't get it at first and then felt stupid for not getting it.
@aevens when was it rewritten? and which contradiction is it that gives you the most trouble?
@drdeancrosby who gave the teachings in the old testament?
@nightwork what part was left out?
The god of the Jews, Muslims and Christians commanded that the Hebrews entering the promised land demanded the wholesale murder/genocide of entire cultures. Namely, that every man, woman, and child, including every animal be put to the sword. This is hardly representative of a loving god and would be tried as a war criminal according to current international law.

Thou shalt not commit adultery - what do you think the bible means by adultery? Give biblical proofI have heard it said, Jews or not - Thou shalt not commit adultery. Based on the old testament, do you think the bible's definition of adultery is the same as today's definition of adultery?

I haven't been on HP for very long, but I have read through quite a few of the threads on here...I often see someone who claims to be "Christian" saying that "this is wrong" or "that is wrong" based off of a quote from the OT. But yet, I hear also that Jesus died for...

I just read a post from someone stating that Christianity is based on the Bible which stands to reason, "If Christianity is based off the bible then that means it would have never come to furition since the book would never have been written because no Christian would have existed before...
