   The King James translation uses the terms " old man"  and "new man" in these verses:
   
   Ephesians 4:21-24 (New King James Version)
   
   21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
   
   Modern translations drop these words as they provide easier to understand wording that makes it very  clear that the teaching applies to women as well:
   
   Ephesians 4:21-24 (Contemporary English Version)
   
   20-21But that isn't what you were taught about Jesus Christ. He is the truth, and you heard about Him and learned about Him. 22 You were told that your foolish desires will destroy you and that you must give up your old way of life with all its bad habits. 23 Let theHoly Spirit change your way of thinking 24 and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, and so you must please Him and be truly holy.
   
   In another book the Apostle Paul describes the behavioral characteristics of a "new man" or those walking on the narrow path leading to salvation:
   
   Colossians 3:12-13 (New King James Version)
   
   Character of the New Man
      
   12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long-suffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

   what do you mean by a new man? if you mean a born again then there are no consequences. by becoming a born again is where the consequenses come in.
