   do you sometimes want to comment on a hub but you don't want to be rude?
   
   i read a hub yesterday and i wanted to tell the person that there problems about being poor are because they are feeling sorry for themselves and they are lucky to even live in a country where welfare is available but i didn't and it's killing me.

   I speak my mind. Obviously I think it is important to be tactful as well as honest. Rude is a term that implies that what you are about to offer in the form of an opinion is not well thought out, and will not be presented in a constructive, intelligent, or respectful manner. There are many words in the English language. You can easily call someone a moron without doing it directly, or being insensitive.

   I think when a hub strikes you that way it is best to just move on. Otherwise, you sink to the same level of the person writing the hub and walk the line of just getting into a name calling, tag, and labeling exercise that serves no purpose.  Rather than take a rude approach, offer up a reasonable, factual representation of your perspective...at least you will then be on the record for something besides rudness.  Then it will be up to the hubber to decide whether or not they have the guts to post your viewpoint. WB

   For me, it would depend on a combination of A) how personal to me is the issue and B) the "tone" of the hub. Does it strike me the person is being combative and looking to spark a debate, or are they just stating their opinion?
   
   For example, I'm a big fan of the second amendment, so if I stumbled across a hub where the auther was stating that not only shoud the second amendment be repealed, but that anyone who holds a contrary opinion is just a moron or a "hick", then yeah, I might have a thing or two to say about that.
   
   On the other hand, if they're just stating their opinion without being rude or ignorant about it, or they're talking about something I have either no interest and/or knowledge about, I'll likely just move on as they are entitled to feel however they want.
   
   There are far too many great hubs to read by too many great authors to get too hung up in negativity. (by the way... sorry my hub bothered you so much :p  )

   Did you know 100% and beyond any reasonable doubt that the person you speak of is poor because he/she is feeling sorry for himself/herself?
   Always speak your mind - you can do it without being rude. And I suppose we should all be happy that we have air to breath too, right? And water to drink ...
