Does being an athiest help give you a clearer mind?

we don't spend time on worship or praying but instead we deal in facts. do you believe this helps you develop a more clear and rational mind?

Religious people often look at everything through the lens of their religion. This can be very limiting. Atheists can look at the way things really are.

As an example, if someone commits a crime, many religious people say that they are making a choice. Because according to religion we all have free will. But if you look at reality, abuse and neglect in childhood can affect the wiring of the brain and people may not actually be able to control bad impulses.

Whether or not you believe in free will can impact how you look at crime, punishment and rehabilitation. For example, psychopaths who claim to be born again Christians may be treated favorably by parole boards or juries. The assumption is that now they will choose to be good. However, they may have no real ability to control their behavior.

Atheists don't have these limitations in our thinking. We don't have to make facts fit a pre-existing worldview.

Depends on the person some people that are religious only look at their religion as being right and use ignorance to create fear and hatred but some religious people know thats not what their religion is suppose to mean and actually is quite the opposite.  Religion has been used for hatred so many times in history but I can't say that all religious people wouldn't have a clear mind. Just like some athiests use their own ignorance to hate religious people and can't see beyond that.

    It's an interdependent relationship!

Many people get to the point of turning away from religion because it became obvious to them worship and praying are absurd activities and in so doing created a much clearer and more rational out look on life and reality for themselves ...

Having gained freedom from irrational religiosity, looking back, it is that much more enjoyable to know one is no longer taking part in such absurd activities and has a better understanding of oneself how limiting such religious indoctrination can be in the development of ones creative mind and dogma free view of reality.
