   Do you think a family today can make it on one income still?
   
   When I was a kid, just my Dad worked, while Mom was home caring or us, keeping house, and making dinner. Today however it seems both parents have to work and the kids end up being raised in part by either grandparents or daycare centers.

   Depends on what country you are referring to.  If in United States, then the answer is probably "yes, if the family has no kids".   And probably, "no, if it is a family of four". 
   
   Of course this is a generalization and depends on which part of the country you are talking about.  There are always exceptions.   
   
   But I agree with you that it is becoming increasingly difficult for one-income families.
   
   In 2011, a $22,350 yearly income in the United States for a family of four is consider the poverty line.

   What you see is an outcome to social paradigms that were put in place by the Rockefeller family.  The Women's Liberation Movement was a fine thing in a number of ways - but the Rockefeller's intentions for such things were not that they provide social equality to women, their goal was to destabilize the American Family structure, and it worked.  Of course no one family could do such a thing alone - all the wealthiest families in the world have been working together for more than five hundred years to achieve the social, political, and economic situations that we see globally right here and now.
   
   Our wealth overlords, those who will not pass through "the eye of the needle" prefer that you not use your grandparents.  Our global elites prefer that you use daycare centers - so as indoctrination can come to greater fruition, and family loyalties will become about as thick as is water.  Your children belong to the state, and serve the purpose that the state is so benevolent to, possibly, provide for them.  This is why your children are assigned a number at birth, a number that implies something that a state can not provide for anyone.

   In the USA I would say definatly not, unless you have a very high paying job that make more than 70,000 a year for a family of 4. That would even be cutting it close, because my husband and I have 3 jobs between us and make that amount with a family of 6 and it barely gets us anything.

   In Australia this is extremely difficult for the average wage earner - these days the two income family is the norm.  The escalating costs of real estate, fuel, groceries, and power has made the single income average family a thing of the past.  I don't know what it is really like elsewhere though.

   Whilst two incomes make life a little easier for us. I do believe that you can still live on one income.
   You will only spend the money that you have, you cannot spend what you do not have.
   Each family make their choices and if they wanted to live as a single income family they would make it work.

   It depends on what that one income amount is and what each persons definition of what " making it" means. The answer to that question will vary from person to person.

   It depends on the income.  Our son has a very good job and our daughter-in-law is able to stay home with the kids.  Unfortunately, today, it is rare.  Most families are not able to live on one income
