   No, but if I don't think it's reasonably entertaining and glitch-free, I find others feel the same way.  It seems that if you (the writer) isn't positive about what he/she publishes, readers detect this and fade away.

   Sometimes, but that is okay with me. Not everyone will like everything I write and intern I'm not interested in some hubs either.

   Most of the time, yes. But for me, that's OK. Because I write for me. It's something that I have to do. It's how I express myself, explore questions, work through doubts, pray, challenge myself, and work toward bettering my writing. If you worry about writing to please others, your work will seem insincere.
   When you let your writing dig through the depths of your thoughts and emotions rather than trying to say something in a way you think others will find entertaining, your writing will become what it could never be otherwise. Truly unique and absolutely fascinating.

   Yes I do... I have a very loyal following (and I love you all!) but it is a small group. I have a very intense style at times and I think it's just not for everyone. I have a very close friend who says I'm talented but she has to get in the right mood to read my stuff. It's not easy reading so sometimes she say's "Oh God... there goes Mark again..." She feels pressure to read it but I tell her it's ok... I write for myself....
   
   My stuff does not teach anyone how to make money or solve a practical problem. It's more howling at the moon and it can be sad or angry and I think people have enough problems of their own so to read my stuff it might just make them think about things they have no control over.

   Well, I often do feel that way. I'm sure most writers feel insecure to some extent, even the famous ones. In today's day and age, the audience for writing is in fact shrinking. We have to keep plugging away anyway. Right now, I'm on this site trying to read people's stuff, hoping that if I comment on theirs, they will hopefully read mine.
   
   Bob is of course right, that if you don't think your stuff is good, then others won't as well. However, I think most writers have a fraught relationship to their work, enthusiastic one minute, insecure the next. I think Bob is right that, if you are working on a particular piece, and it isn't exciting you, you should abandon it. However, you shouldn't take insecurity as a reason to give up altogether. Focus on what you do well, and just get out there and share it with the world.
   
   "Success" will only come to a few of us, but as we are working, others are giving up. In the end, if you can survive and do what you love, then it doesn't matter who pays attention.

   I do sometimes.  Most times I write about subjects that I would research for hours and then spend more hours putting them together and more time editing and re-editing.  Then after I published the article, I would burst out laughing saying "Who da heck would be interested in THAT?"  But my friends here (thank y'all) read them and give me positive feedback, and sometimes.. sometimes.. I would hit jackpot.  Awesome!

   Sometimes! I try and keep a positive attitude and know others enjoy my writing.  I like to write whatever comes to mind and there will always be a reason why someone came across my story.

   I feel that if I find my writing to be boorish or substandard, others will too. The subject matter sometmes makes a difference, and if I feel that what I am writing about is interesting only to me, I may not publish the hub. For every hub that I have published, there are one or two that aren't.

    First off as many of you know, I mostly write about addictions and finding sobriety. There has been a few times that I thought my hub would not be read, but if not, writing helps to keep me  sober and anyone else that reads them and they are helped by reading is just a Plus to me.

    Yes I really do. Especially when I post here very few people read it or if they read it they rarely comment on my work. But I guess that's the way it goes. It's not easy finding your audience, at least it isn't for me. But I keep creating and hopefully useful feedback will come.

    . . . .no.  I feel like my readers are just really strange people like myself.  Either that, or they just happen to feel really, really sorry for me.  In any case - I write because I sometimes feel like I have to.

    Of course I write for myself primarily, but ultimately, I'll want people to read what I write and hopefully find it entertaining or helpful at least.

    Very interesting question bellawriter. Since I've come to the Hubpages I've been an open book. I started writing with the purpose of leaving a Legacy to my children. Opening up so they would know their real Daddy. The one who grew up with abuse, fighting in the streets of Montreal for survival, dropping out of school earlier than I should have, yet struggling to find a niche in my life, which I did. I write of my life experiences and I do it mostly in poetry style. At first I thought I would fail as a poet until I read the warm reception it received here at the Hubs. I have many loyal followers and I likewise follow man creative writers both of short stories, verse, rhyme and scintillating poetry. I am blessed to be given the strength and guidance by my Muse to put forth what I am able to with my Quill. I am happy to count you as one of my followers and me yours. You are among many who have inspired me.

    Most definitely!  Sometimes I even crack myself up.  My friends just started reading my hubs though and there are parts where they say they've "peed their pants laughing" so maybe I'm onto something after all.
