Is it time to let prostitution be legal along with other such laws?
smoking pot, prostitution and such are personal choices that I feel no one has the right to tell us if we can or can't participate in. isn't freedom what these laws go against?
What most people do not understand is that societies can have a greater control over such things (prostitution, the growth and sale of marijuana, etc.)
Of course, for many people who have never traveled outside of North America this sounds outrageous but for many people who have, the idea of giving more freedom to people doesn;t sound so crazy.
prostitution should be legalized since our present system hasn't worked to erradicate it. legalzed prostitution could offer protection to both the prostitutes and their clients, regulating health checks, offering opportunities for taxation.
it might be a good idea to review the effects of legalized prostitution in nevada. what problems result in the law change?
I've written a number of essays on the benefits of legalization both of prostitution and drugs (which I will upload if I ever find them). Criminilizing them does little but cost the system money and drive them underground, and out of conrtol.
If you're an escort in Nevada they feature you in an HBO special and make you famous. Everywhere else and you go jail.
If you're a soccer mom in Mendocino County, California, you're taking courses in how to grow marijuana at home. Grow weed everywhere else and you go to jail.
Put a 30 round magazine in your AR rifle in Florida and have a fun day at an outdoor range. Put a 30 round magazine in your rifle in New Jersey and you're going to jail for quite a long time.
As for escorts, Indeed, why not legitimize the business and tax it. Didn't states take the numbers rackets away from mafia influence/control and rename it Lotto. Didn't certain states take some forms of gambling away from criminal enterprises and rename it OTB....
The again look at the Netherlands recent rulings - right wing populist Geert Wilders has altered the liberal drug policies which will force it to go underground and cause an explosion in the criminal emergence, not to mention violence by rival gangs/outfits. So much for tourist dollars as well since we all love to visit Amsterdam for those wonderful windmills and nothing else...

With all the shady prostitution and rapes that occur, do you think legalizing prostitution would benefit those who choose this as their profession and lower the incidences of rape because men will have another legal outlet for their urges?
