Why is the world straying from the traditional beliefs of God creating the heavens and earth?
There is so much talk of amoung Scientist of extra terrestrials being responsible for things here on earth opposed to God. What do you believe?
I still believe in God as many many people do, but our society now a days believes so strongly in the right to be an individual that they use their own mind to do what they believe is right under God. Even those that do not believe in God and use science as a basis still follow the same ideas. Science adds things for people to consider, but in the long run we all need to make up our own minds about what we believe. Beliefs are complicated and detailed. There are many reasons behind them and nobody agrees with anybody else in the world. There might be a bunch of people who are say catholic but not a single catholic is 100% like another one. They will disagree about something. We just need to use our brains and think!
Before I give my response here I just want to say that @mythicalstorm273 had a very good response that I agree with. I don't know that I could word it any better.
People are learning more about who they are and where they came from and from that they are able to make up their minds using intelligent thought from the facts at hand. Who or what is "GOD"? That can clear up a lot if the meaning of "GOD" was defined better. God to you or someone else might be a man in the sky called heaven that protects us, makes things happen, etc. But God to me or someone else might just mean something that is supreme; maybe a man, maybe it is me, or an alien etc. The point is many people believe in something more powerful than ourselves but have a different view of what that is. I recently wrote a hub on this very subject that I think you might enjoy. Agree or not is up to the reader, but this is my belief and I have my own thoughts and reasons for believing in my theory. I hope you take the time to read it with an open mind. http://allenwilliams.hubpages.com/hub/G … e-Your-Own
Once upon a time religious men refused to look at astronomical bodies through Galileo's telescope out of fear. Most have began to embrace science since then. Atheism is on the rise because many are putting more "faith" in science as it answers questions without dogma or fairy tales. Adhering to tradition simply because religious ideology is useful and not neccessarily true is not virtuous. As we learn more, God gets smaller to some people.
people are becoming educated and thinking rationally. we don't just do as were told anymore, we think for ourselves and common sense says god is just a myth.
I don't know of any scientists who talk of extraterrestrials here on Earth. There's no proof of it.
God does not do everything in the universe. That's part of what "free will" means.
Individuals may stray from traditional beliefs, but the world does not.
And some "traditional" beliefs perhaps should be strayed from. Some "traditional" beliefs are not of God, but of man's "interpretation" of God's word. His word is good, but the interpretation is not. And some people feel they are not interpreting, but they are. For instance, the Fundamentalist who feels that the universe is only 6000 years old, because that is their interpretation of the Bible.
But there are many interpretations of the Bible. Which one, if any, is right? Only with humility can we find the answers from God.
I have found in my own interpretation of Genesis a timeline compatible with those of science. And that timeline has revealed many new answers, such as the identity of the "daughters of man" found in Genesis 6, and an understanding of the seemingly outrageous ages of the early patriarchs.

I had an interesting conversation with my mother and sister the other day. They are both Christians and believe in the second coming of Christ, and also believe that global warming and climate change are not real, or that they will be "snatched up" before anything too bad happens to our...

This is another religious topic, but unlike most that are posted. The basis of this thread is to gather the thoughts of atheists, evolutions or scientologists and christians can even chime in. Most evolutionists believe that the world wasn't created by a God, but rather formed through many...

I was a missionary in the christian faith for years. I went to a bible college. I've read the bible - at least a dozen times, cover to cover. I've studied the dogmas, the doctrines and the theology - and I'm an atheist. What I'm offering is an open forum (open to the degree...

This whole section of the forums here is riddled with such strong emotions. I am not REALLY suggesting that God is an alien. Although, honestly, I have actually pondered that very notion. The real point is that every religious group on the planet (Christianity included- it IS a...

If your views conflict with the teachings of the church, how can you still practice Christianity? If your views conflict with the teachings of the Bible or church, how can you balance those things to practice Christianity or any other religion you choose?
