   Not really, however it portrays you as quality Hubber which will make fellow Hubbers more easily click the "subscribe" button.

   The only thing I can think of is gaining prestige of some sort, which leads to more followers.  Other than that, it's basically motivation from Hubpages for us to stay on the site (which isn't a bad thing, necessarily).

   I dont think there is any real specific benefits other than showing your activity level on hubpages and how long you have been with the site.  They come with time and although you can write 50 answers quick and get that badge you have to wait your time to get a time badge.  But at the end of the day I dont see how it matters aside from aligning with your hubscore as well maybe?

   Yes - all rating systems guide potential readers to the better stuff, and that has to be a good thing.
   
   Having several systems operating in parallel offers different routes - so more traffic for those that offer quality writing or helpful community participation.

   The accolade were developed as a means of inspiring some site users with a perceived reward, but they don't actually have any tangible effect on your account or how it performs.
   
   Also, users can choose to hide their accolades so that only they themselves can see them, which tends to mean there is then no effect on the profile or on how others view that person.

   The accolades help you do well on HubPages.  Writing content is important, so you get one for that.  Being a part of the community is important, so you get one for commenting, and one for the answers section. 
   
   I like looking at people's accolades.  I know whether someone is a part of the community by looking at which accolades they have earned. If someone hasn't commented on my hubs, I don't feel so bad if they don't have a comment accolade.

   I love the accolades because it is a direct indicator as too how balanced a persons activity is on hubpages or also known as Hubtivity.  The more activity you participate in here the more the accolades will build up, and it is definitely a motivational factor to keep people going on here. 
   
   I think without any indicator of your improvement socially on such a writers network as hubpages, it would'nt be as competitive and as interesting to me.  I love to see how others are performing and this drives me to improve my performance as well. 
   I just wish many other facets of life was handled in such a manner, like school.  Imagine if they replaced the entire grading system in the collegiate system & grade school, with an accolade system as here on hubpages. 
   
   Imagine how powerful and appealing that would be to all the students and the betterment of their own education.  Feeling as if your gaining and acquiring awards is definitely a great way to let people know how their doing overall in any given system. With that stated I would like to say wholeheartedly, I love this stuff!!
   Hubbing and the Accolades system is Fantastic! Mostly because I like to see the results of my hard work blood sweat & tears.  Great question here.

   I think it's primarily there to allow you to keep track of your personal achievements on the site. I think they are really effective at getting people to strive to improve the quality of their hubs and of their communications with others.
